I've done it lots of times. Practically pro at it. Sure you get every minute you didn't drive, but what if I fall short of the 8 hrs and don't have the time to wait for it? Or there is no parking at shipper/rec to wait it out? Though, I meant stopping it without having to do anything special.

You can't see what's in your box at least not easily. I can see what's on my trailer, and know what's the heaviest. We can't move tandems like u can. If we are over on an axle we have to move freight around. Most shippers we go to know how to load a flatbed. Guys loading a van just put stuff in till it is full cuz you can move your tandems. That load is tall but it only ways 22,000 lbs. The whole load is the same stuff so it is well balanced. The load is centered so weight is balanced on first rear axle and drives. 5500 lbs on each axle, roughly. could be a lil heavier though bit not by much. I'm legal as a whistle.

Policy is to scale anything over 25k I think? Takes a bit of time but its worth it. AND they always pay it.

44k should ride evenly weighted at about the 12th hole.

Fortunately I don't think such a rule exists with our company. I don't see why they don't allow sleeper birth provision. Recap is harder.

uh, I do it all the time....

It isn't complicated, the e-log calculates it for you. No one has ever said anything to me for doing it, it is especially helpful when delivering to a grocery warehouse to use it to find a safe place to park after you have sat there for 8 hours to unload.

Yes, policy is to scale anything over 25k. Reason being, anything under 25k, it doesn't matter where your tandems are you will never be overweight.

That being said, if it was a live load and I know where the weight is, and I have picked up there before, I usually don't scale it.

They will sit you down and have a chat. Against company policy and could get u a pink slip. Not worth it even if computer is working the numbers

I find with most companies it is how much they like you. My company charges for excessive out of route miles. I have driven 400+ out of route miles on my own route and not a dime taken out of my check. I don't think I've gained their likings yet but just haven't done anything wrong for them to say anything about it. I've met drivers who have done it too but one day they told off the dm for being stupid and the next thing he knew he was missing $500

So I drop my truck off at Freightliner in Omaha. Getting the pm done while Im here at home. Called this morning as I was supposed to leave this afternoon. There was an oil leak that I told my dbl and the service tech about, couldnt get sni to approve the fix till 3 am this morning. Ends up being several leaks that can take up to 5 hrs shop time each. Wont be ready till late tomorrow so I wont get back out till Wed morning. At least the ol lady could think of several more honeydos for me rather quickly!
Does anyone know if Freightliner will install the dreaded ambient temp sensor when they do a pm? I dont abuse the idle but it is nice to run for a bit in the morning to warm up after the low battery has kicked off the bunk heater.
