Money wise is tough to answer. For school having a free breakfast at the hotel, and a microwave and fridge will help cut down on cost. I went home every night so my only money spent was on gas and food for road trips. I would say if you have a small crockpot bring it to the hotel and that helps with cost. On the road, I would say $100 at least a week while with trainer, or eat lots of pb&j sammichs. Truck stops are expensive, just an example I had to buy milk and break the other day 3.19 for a half gallon, 2.99 for the bread. Once you are in your own truck, will stay about the same more or less. It also depends on the trainer. Some are friendlier than others about using the fridge,cooking in the truck, and eating out of the truck.

Well day 3 down been real good met woody today got to drive some doing ok on upshifts struggling on downshifts, ill get it. Back to classroom tomorrow pretrip on friday.

 

Glad to see you fellows are doing well !!!. I really wanted to be there but my retirement account check( cashed out my 401 k to have money for this.) it got didn't get to me until Saturday afternoon. It was supposed to be here that Thursday !!. Went to bank and they put a hold on it for 10 days because of them needing it to clear before they'd let me take any money out . It was just before the bank closed on Saturday and so didn't have the $400.00 needed for Monday. Was going to call Millis Monday and see if they'd let me reschedule -- i would have faxed them proof using the paper i got from the bank --- But my wife said to wait and see if they called to check on me . No call and no messages were left so the wife said not to try calling them they jut wanted the $103.00. Would have like if they called but i know i should have called them too.
Since i'd driven before i guess i might be going to take a refresher and just go with another carrier. Refresher is $1575.00 so not to bad. Hate to pay the $6500 for a full course when i have a CDl and current physical card. But might have to that's the reason i applied to Millis -- they have a good program.

just my humble opinion a responsible person would have called and let them know what was going on I strongly believe they would have worked with you

Sapamil i agree with you. On the other notes, Downshifting will take time but it will come to you faster then you think. Even when you've driven for a while you have days when you don't shift right.
