I don't know how old you are but I'd talk to a few financial advisers at some small town banks. I'd find a tax deferred account of some kind and let that money work for you.

...me i would probably keep my job to keep the health insurance...bank it and have me a rainy day fund but then again a nice late model used truck would cross my mind as long as there aren't payments involved...now you have OPTIONS so i hope we don't see a post 6mos from now from you asking what happened xo goodluck with it.....

You can always buy a truck with $5000 down and bank the rest. Like WV says get some bank CD's so you have an ace in the hole.

Then if the truck thing isn't working out you didn't lose everything.

The second option is to come to my house and I'll take you sight seeing in the woods! There's some pretty cool cliffs around here! Don't forget your money. A duffle bag of small bills will work! :biggrin_2559:

Well I don't keep it on me so y'all don't get any ideas about running those orange trucks off the road. We have a hard enough time keeping them on the road . Getting a feeling I am going to get invited to a bunch of hunting trips.

I did not read any other replies, so here is mine:

Keep the job with SNI but go on as a local driver. Keep the $82k in the bank and enjoy life. Now that the house is paid off and all the toys, you will not need to work as hard. Enjoy what you have got and enjoy it well. You only have 1 shot at living this life and you don't want to spend it all in a truck.

I have a paypal account in which you could pay me to advise you on how to avoid losing money in trucking by not getting into trucking.
