This one you can't see the truck. It's only a crappy International anyway, but it was my first driving job.
This was actually my last load on my last day that I worked there.

Moved into this one after the lumber job.

    This is my current ride.

Pretty much stayed in straight trucks. Started with my B and drove for 5 years with it. Got my A because I could without paying for it. I have been lucky finding work that pays well with straight trucks, so thats what I've stuck with, plus I know I'll be home every night.

The 78 was a V-8 cat,525 hp, 15 over, 3:55 rears, pete air ride and 400 gals of fuel.
The 82 was a 3406 500 hp 15 over,3:55 rears pete air ride and 300 gals of fuel. Have a great day and thanks for the compliment. I had a 79 that was the same as the 82 but can't find the picture. It was met blue with silver stripes. I can't remember the wheelbase on these trucks, but the total length with a 48 ft trailer was 67 to 70 ft.

Man would I love to find that 78 and restore it! I want a project with either a 3408 or a KTA/KTTA. That sound of the Cat V8 is so awesome!

It sure was a nice truck to drive. Traded it in at Pete in OKC and got the 79 and yes today it would be a great project. Never had a Cummings

500 hp in 1982? Could have sworn 400 was the biggest from cat at that time. HP wars really didnt start till the 90's.

Well Hwy the V-8 was rated at 450 and the cat dealer would give you a 20% increase and the same on the 3406. We had a cat mechanic that would work on the side to help. You are right there were no hp wars going on, I just had to have the trucks run and pull (had trouble with clutches) and nobody really cared what hp you were running, never had anybody ask just as long as we stayed in the left lane. I don't know if this put us in the chicken heavy hauling division, but the gross was in the 85,000 to 95,000 range.

MJ1657 and Container Hauler Thank this.
