Okay, I Installed the Bearcat 880 on my 2012 freightliner, and run the diagnostics. I had an antanna fail so I replaced the stock antannas with the 4' firestick antennas. However, I get horrible reception and nobody can really hear me very well. Any thoughts? I did do the SWR tuning as per the instructions in the book, but I would like to be able to communicate further than 1/2 of a mile. Thanks for your replies.

    I'd suspect the coax.

1.25 is the highest I can get the SWR, adjusted anywhere else I can only get 1 or even none. No clue what else to do

I did not use an external. I would als9 like to have more than 4 watts of power. Guess im going to a shop.

I agree with the external. Then recheck. Yes, 1.5:1 is optimal, but 1.2:1 is good too.. You just don't want much higher than 1.5:1.

Take it to a shop for the more power wish.

I'd still be leery of the coax, I've not seen too many semis with decent coax setups from the factory.

It is your coax. There are several good threads on here about the Freightliner Cascadia and its radio problems. The best fix I've seen is run a new coax from the antenna to the radio and bypass all the factory stuff, and get a good quality antenna.
