If they do like other companies they will require the driver to use the machines that record usage and check their usage periodically. A friend drives for prime and they will terminate you for failure to use the machine after being diagnosed with apnea.

Sarge, I wonder if if this is a very timely result of that trainer that you and I sat with in the Driver's lounge TV room at NLR while I was there for that week then rode back to KY with you. Remember how badly the student was dozing off and that trainer said he would snore so badly then choke himself awake every 10 minutes or so?? We recommended that he mention it, perhaps that is where this "all of a sudden" came from. I welcome it, think its a good thing.

Dunno but I'm sure its been in the works for a while. Yep, I remember that guy, and the instructor too. Both looked exhausted. Been there, done that, got the dark circles under my eyes before from a student's snoring. I've started warning my students I snore from time to time so to set up their bunk opposite mine so at least they don't snore right down the back wall on top of me. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ resonates quite well downwards along that back wall and with the new bunks folding into the wall, when extended, there's no sound barrier like in the old 2007 trainer trucks.

They do they sleep apnea test based on your neck size and or weight. They make you sleep with this batman wrist band thing for a night. If you have it they require you to get a machine which they take small payments out of your check over time. I think they said there about 200$. A lot of the guys here didn't know they had it and apparently it makes you feel better.

Hey to Captainx3, Wanted to let u know i spoke with courtney this morning. Just wanted to clarify some issues from our conversation and your info. I mentioned you by name, she knew who u are. She told me about the process thru orientation and training in tcd. She said up to 2wks. possible as worse case 4 tcd. training in the yard before going out with instructer. I mentioned that there website under tcd. stated one day training after orientation. She said that is the minimum. I can't imagine what you could possibly do 4 that long. How long did u do 4 tcd. taining? Also some concern about the physical lifting requirements thru 1st. few days of orientation. Is it the same tough lifting even though are going into tcd.? I had read a thread from a new guy going thru orientation on 2nd or 3rd day having to lift a 140lb box over his head and all this other big weights and they washed out and he had put in for tcd. division. not flatbedding. I can understand that need 4 great physical ability 4 that, but not 4 tcd. Can you fill me in on what u went thru. I guess i better start some weight training asap. if thats the case. She also told me brcause of shortage of tcd. trainers that if i was approved to go into orientation that i would'nt even be givein a date to show up untill they had an instructer that is available 4 me after orientation. Did'nt indicate anything about going out with a flat bedder 4 training. Guess thats it 4 now. Will be going thru app. process soon. Thanks again. Be safe. Manitouman.

Glad to hear you've got the ball rolling!

I waited close to 4 weeks for a TCD trainer to become available, because I switched into TCD mid training and was not scheduled, so it took awhile. During that 4 weeks I stayed at the Galloway hotel. I attended some trip planning classes, drove the shuttle van for new students, and did a few special projects for the instructors in the training building, and did one special project that involved driving to Nashville and back to pick up some new drivers.

I stayed busy enough not to get bored, but I had a lot of free time too. I was paid the same $550 per week while I was there, so it was actually pretty nice. Driving the shuttle van for drivers and students was lots of fun, I got to talk to them and see a lot of Little Rock. They can find stuff for you to do so you're still earning your salary.

They physical wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Everyone has to take the same physical. If they're still doing it the same way, I believe I had to lift 80 lbs to chest level, and then something like 120 lbs to knee level, and then I had to lift a box onto a flatbed trailer with some weight but I can't remember how much. Some of the recent grads on here might be able to tell you more details. You also have to be able to drag some weight behind you by pulling a rope.

The hard part of the physical was the 3 minutes on the stair master... I was seeing spots at 2:30 lol. Doesn't sound like much but it starts to burn like crazy if you're not in shape, which I wasn't.

To be honest, if a fat lazy guy like me can pass it, just about anyone should do just fine :)

Definitely get the process started, it takes a couple weeks for all the background stuff to finish anyways. There may be some time to wait for a trainer, but hopefully not too long. It would be funny if I started training and you ended up being my first student lol!
