ahhhhh i remember you now. you're the intelligent individual that would rather be unemployed looking for work, than EMPLOYED looking for work. doesnt make sense to me, but hey, if its works for you, it works for you.

Nobody said you had to stay at a "bottom feeder" for long..... all the reading you've done on here, but it seems you've missed the stories about new guys applying to other places (before they even did their "year") and getting hired on at a nice local gig.
The funny thing is i remember you saying that financially speaking you're starting to run "dry", well obviously its not "dry" enough for you to get off your high horse lol. -
Plain & simple...an employer is more likely to hire someone who is currently employed than someone who is unemployed...
that's essentially the unwritten rule in the work place...it us sucks but that's life and you have to deal with it...superpet39 Thanks this. -
So the container gig isn't working out?
-
The guy named 'Bruce' intoduced me to a gig in January that I was led on to that I would be hired. Three weeks--I mean, almost three months later, they call me. WTF..?!! I was jilted for 11 weeks and they think all is fine?
The 'Bruce' rule is that after two weeks, if no paycheck is coming my way, I continue to look onward for another company. The eleven weeks since the interview also allowed me to rethink the daily 155 mile round-trip @ $42.00 commute to the yard too..
Also, some jerking me around has come my way. The dispatcher sent me for a drug test and asked me to pay for it. I informed them that I was informed that the company was supposed to pay. The dispatcher goes, 'Oh Yeah, right.' Right indeed. This is after I made the four mile drive in rush hour traffic to the clinic no less. Four days later, still no test.
Also, no assigned truck yet either on the horizon; it seems that I am getting a bit Knighted after all---or is it Transcammed if an applicant chooses not to lease...or maybe CRE...I cannot remember; all these bottom-feeders congeal together after a while.
Also, the container company 1099s and not W-2s, they clam they don't have the money to wash the filthy trucks which have bald tires, brakes that pull hard to the left when applied, the air compressor leaks more than 4 psi in one minute with the brakes applied---just one DOT fail after another.
And if the truck violations are not enough, one out of five carriages has to go to the mechanic for lights or tires or whatever else. Last Thursay we had to get a flip as there were three flats on the #### thing. Only another 75 minutes shot in the ### for the effort. It also seems that the pay here in Chicagoland is not as good for the container driver as it is in your area.
This all said, they are still on my front burner, but also said, I filled out three applications today at other companies--the 'Bruce' rule rules.

Some hard work I cannot perform such as landscaping/digging/planting shrubs trees or working in a 115° heat in a pizzeria kitchen or blast furnace steel mill or anything that requires me to exert hard cardio--yes, I raise my right hand and plead guilty as charged. -

It sure looks like that these prospective employers are having second thoughts about hiring someone...
i mean...don't employers want to hire people who will actually do the work they're hired to do & not belly ache?superpet39 Thanks this. -
