How easy/hard is it to move a company from state to state? Lets say I have my own authority and live in Florida. I buy a new house in North Carolina. How easy or hard is it to move my company there? What are the forms i need to fill out,? Will there be a time of "wait" for the new state to verify the company?

A lot of states deal with trucking companies moving across state lines for tax benefits. So, they really make you jump through some hoops to prove you've actually moved, and not just on paper.

I moved from AL to OK. Had to dissolve the AL LLC and file a new one in OK. As far as authority, you just have to contact FMCSA and change your address. All numbers stay the same. I also had to change insurance agents. Agent has to be in the state you reside in. Wasn't a big deal at all. Only state paperwork came when I got my new base plate and had to prove residency with mortgage, drivers license, etc.
