The turning radius is about the same. But it doesn't feel like it once you're used to a long hood in front of you. And the 387 feels like it's going to tip over every time your cornering, even though you're not going to. It's hard to keep it in a lane because of that.
Already threw away my toothbrush.
And yes, you do have (somewhat) of a say about which truck you get.
When you're released you will be given a sheet for your choices. While it's not guaranteed that you will get your first, or second choice, the computer selects your truck based on that. If there is one available, that's what you'll get.

Does TMC ever haul Hazmat? Would it be beneficial for me to get my hazmat endorsement? I will be attending orientation on the 14th of January in Columbia, thanks to everyone who has answered my questions or someone else's. Thid website has truly helped me navigate my way through the decision making process

I'm wondering about the TMC and hazmat too. Seems to me, since they only flatbed, there's not much hazmat for them. On the other hand, there's always something. . .
My first choice for OTR was TMC. After reading along and doing what I've done now, I think I'm glad I lived outside their hiring area. -
Is the training in columbia any different than in Dm?

TAKE home those amounts, or gross (before taxes, insurance, SSI)? Cause my trainer wasnt making anywhere near that last summer. And we did some LONG hauls. -
These are and were my take home amounts. I cannot comment on what your trainer was making. Like I said, I work hard. Especially, on Long Haul I almost always delivered early by a day. I am able to do it occasionally on Line Haul. It always made a difference on Long Haul, it does sometimes on Line Haul.

I have my HAZMAT endorsement. I have hauled HAZMAT only once in the last year. You will have to decide for your self if it is worth getting HAZMAT. I think it is. If you go with TMC you will have to pay for it yourself. You will rarely use it. I use it on a load from Firestone out of Indy. It was some kind of roofing supplies.
I wouldn't think orrientation in Columbia is significantlly different from DSM. I attended DSM,
