New to trucking. I'm leaving for a 10 orientation then going solo. How dangerous is it out there for women?

I park where I feel comfortable. Mind you, I have been driving for what seems like forever now, and you learn what to avoid. Trust your instincts, if the hairs in the back of your neck are standing up, just leave.

I won't park in certain areas, truck stops because I can't walk my dog there, or maybe I don't feel safe. I don't park at the TA in Jessup, MD. Don't have an issue parking on the side of the road in Brooklyn. Go figure. It's trial and error I guess. If I go into LA, I stay as far out as Barstow at times, because I don't like to pay to park in Ontario.

It's really not all that bad. I do have my (large) dog with me, so all in all I don't worry all that much, but still only park where I feel safe, since I have to walk him at night.

i would say you wil be just fine as long as you truck your instincts. for the most part places are fine and safe but there will be places that are unsafe. one thing ive learned is that when someone knocks on my door at a truckstop or rest area not to answer unless it is someone you know or someone at a shipper or consignee. for the most part everyone that has knocked on my door has been a hooker, wanted money, or for all i know wanted ot rob me.

Sadly its not very safe for the womenfolk .

Some of us drivers are Ladykillers in our barb-q stained T- shirts and upper rear ventilated low-cut ( falling down ) Jeans.
    watch out

Lol! Sadly true Saint. Ive seen some crazy cat lady drivers.
I left the Army right before trucking, but even with that training I carry a stun gun in my purse and another in my pocket.
