I agree it is irriating however it has been the way for years when coming back into service after hometime and won't change in the future. I'm trying to be sympathic of your situation but it is how Roehl expects drivers to work. They expect you to be in the truck and ready for a work assignment at 0700 when the planners come in. If you don't want 0700 then tell your FM what time you will be ready for work. Some FM will call you with your load assignment if there is one on you the night before. For the majority of the FM it is your responsibility to let them know when you will be available for work and check on load assignments. Maybe an understanding of how the planners work might ease the irritation. Planners are assigned regions of the country. In the afternoon they start to look and see what trucks are in service and will be emptying out before 0700 and trucks coming back into service. Some customers do not make available loads visible till after midnight so planners do not see them till they come back in the morning. After they work with trucks that are empty prior to 0700 they move to those who are sending in empty calls and have not been assigned a new load. Those trucks that are returning to service are on the bottom of the list. Unfortunately your are looked at by the planners as a truck needing a load. Nothing more...nothing less. Don't take it personally. I'm 45 minutes away from my truck. I go the night before and sleep in the truck. That way I have everything ready to roll and don't have to rush. I know that I can get a bit more sleep not having to get up early to drive into the truck and get sleep to at least 0630. Prepare to plan or plan to fail.

Wouldn't take it personally from planner, his fm however is a different story in how it was handled.

what drove me crazy were the guys that would call at 1700 and be told there is not load and then call back at 0700. While it's 14 hours later, nothing has changed, you might as well have called back at 1701.
Bayle Thanks this. -

Went up to Appleton for a pm and to get my physical. The doctor told me that per Roehl guidelines I have to do a sleep study to get more than a 6 month card. This was before the physical started. I have no symptons of sleep apnea. My blood pressure is normal and my neck size is just over 15". I have decided that I will not take part in their scam and let them know today over the qualcomm that I'll be terminating my employment.

Sorry mike...that sucks.
Im at loves williamsville, il. I55 xt 109, i hav a little time here to catch up..been running a lot. Met the coolest roehl driver ever this morning at cons..jerry..hes in a blue prostar in the event u may have encountered him. Gave me some most excellent advice. Its too bad things like with quiet mike. Ive had nothing but positive encounters with other roehl drivers..those brief encounters or just a quick hello even makes being part of roehl cool for me. Talked to irish on the phone a bit too..comparing phase 3 stories. Seems like everytime i get a little time off im in podunk and the weathers chitty... -
