    I buy them to

    1. hang flags on the sides of machinery
    2. attach beacon light to trailer
    3. attach oversized banners to really big, wide metal structures
    4. give them as gifts to new drivers that dont have any.

Every time I go to that Petro, I pick up 4 more.

they sell portable 4" ratchets for a good price as I recall, invaluable when you work for a company that has 100 step decks with no winches.

I also believe the military is an excellent choice for many following high school. Now that we are winding down a decade of war it is a little easier to make that statement. It is kind of hard to advocate sending people to war. I never served so I can only speak on what I observe. Unfortunately, I think a very small percentage of kids today are actually tough enough to make it in the military. When you sit in front of a video game console for 10+ hours a day and communicate with someone in the same room via text, you don't end up prepared for a physically and mentally challenging career like the military. I am not sure I could have pulled it off.

I went to a four year college, but it took me 2-3 years to really appreciate the education I was getting. I did not get any specific skills that I use today. I did learn how to think critically, write, and communicate. These are all skills that have served me well in my current career. Looking back, I feel that attending a 4 year school was the right choice for me.

I am not a person that believes in a one size fits all approach to anything. I do believe in making financially responsible choices. I also believe in making logical decisions. Just because young people are programmed to go to 4 year schools doesn't make it the thing to do. Deciding what to do after high school is probably the most important decision a person will make in their life. Most people decide with little good information and based on what they think they might like. I went to Creighton University, which has a big pre-med program. There was a huge number of kids that came in pre-med and dropped out of the program in their first 2 years of undergrad. They thought they wanted to be a doctor but gave little thought to what this entailed.

Bottom line...if you are making the mistake on you dime, do whatever the hell you want. We should have some type of programs to help kids make good choices following high school. If the taxpayer is footing the bill, you plan better be financially viable.

As for the whole thing about school, I could go but no thanks. I honestly dont see myself getting a degree that I could use in a career that I would be willing to stick with for 20+ years. Besides I do just fine driving a truck. As for the kids not being tough these days, thats the truth. They think everything is a game. Proof being my younger brother who served 8 years in the Marine corp as a machine gunner, 3 deployments as it, is now in school and had a kid 18 y/o ask him if war was like call of duty.... Knowing my brother I'm very surprised he didnt slap the kid and say some not so nice things. Lol some people?!?!

Why do you think it is unacceptable for them to be tendered to other carriers?

Lol yep! I was so surprised at how fast waterloo had me in and out. I checked in at 10 after 3 and was driving away at 10 after 4.

I have done a few loads like this one, not very often though. They just need to get me back to Des Moines thats all and I have an RGN. If I wasn't leaving I would have probably picked up another sprayer or a cotton picker.

Dispatch was kinda surprised when the shipper called him!
Delivered today and nothing set in stone for Illinois, so I came home for the weekend at least.
