Question About APUS

    What is an APU? I am starting school next week to be a driver. I have been reading this board for the last week trying to learn terms and meanings, and for the life of me, can't figure this one out. Thanks for the help ahead of time. Stay safe and God bless the American Trucker.

    alternative power unit , used for heating or cooling the truck without idleing the truck, they have their engine. also supply power for accessories.

    they use very little fuel, mine used almost none ,when it ran.:biggrin_2559:..but even if I did have one I wouldn't tell you I did, dont want you hating me cause my truck goes faster AND had an apu.

    I wish my ole' man's truck had one... it would make things a lot easier and more comfortable for him.

    It's sad that you can get a felony charge and possibly jail if you leave your animals and/or children in a hot car... but leave a driver in a big ole' oven when he/she is trying to sleep so they can preform their job safely and it's perfectly acceptable.... :biggrin_2556:
