I saw recently that ABF Freight is hiring in the Philadelphia area, and I was thinking about applying. I was wondering if anyone had any information (good, bad, indifferent) about how they are to work for, pay scale, schedule, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Abf city drivers make around $24.50-25 an hour, not sure what the nmfa is at right now. They do not pay for healthcare. Overtime after 8 or 40. Takes 3 years to hit top pay.

HOWEVER, they are losing money and it looks like wage concessions are possible. They just agreed to extend their contract 1 month because they can not reach an agreement.

They are one of the few old companies left on the road. Had friends work there till they retired and liked it. Union shop. Strict seniority ladder. IF times get slow you could sit with 10+ yrs while some old geezer who should have retired at 70 works. Just the way it is. I would apply if they are taking apps.

    Pharroh336 and aiwiron Thank this.

Great pay however u may be on a hog board. Which means u are on call 24/7 and u will work ONLY your fellow union brothers have their bids satisfied. If u have other income then this is a great job however if this is your only source of income then unless u can afford to go without pay for long periods of time then go someplace else. It can take years to get a bid position
