I am looking to buy a new CB and was wondering what the best is.

What I am looking for is on that has a range of 5-10 miles, durable, and I am looking to spend no more than 130 bucks.

Also I saw a used one - it was a cobra and was an older model and "It is an original dynascan model (older better model)" is what the quote was.

    Any ideas?:biggrin_2558:

I loved my Cobra 29. Had it peaked/tuned with a mod kit and an echo board. Coupled with a Wilson Silver Load and 8' of coax, I was gettin' out 10-12 miles with it. Too bad it was at home when my house burned.

No one was home, except for the meth makers who broke in and caused the fire. I was in Green Bay when it happened. Nothing like being miles away from home and getting a phone call from your neighbors saying your house is on fire. First thing I asked was if they called the fire dept. before calling me.

    How awful for you :(

My parents always said if they were on vacation and the house burned down, please don't call them as there's nothing they can do and you'd ruin their vacation! LOL

My house is full of antiques and hand-made furniture by my dad and others. I have many photo albums before digital came out. Those would be the things I'd miss the most because they're all irreplaceable.

So sorry you had to go through this. It's devastating.

I lost my house on the farm in Canada. I was here in the states. THe only thing left was the chimney. The barn made it though. It is a beautiful place. The fire department is so far a way that there was nothing they could do.

Aparently it burned with in minutes.

Aw, that sucks. Happens a lot to old farm houses - all wood, very little non-flammable stuff inside and volunteer fire departments miles away.

I have the basic cobra III with a lil Wilson antenna. the antenna is tuned and the radio and antenna combo is just right(except for the weather ch. man i wish i had those.) The last time i went on the freeway i heard "we've got a bear right pass the bear valley overpass." man did i make sure i was going the speed limit. Get one that has the features you want and tune your antenna on 1 and 40.
