You can contact a recruiter at lease2landstar.com and ask to be signed up for a load board demonstration. The load board demonstration is something I highly recommend not only so you can see whats available but it will give you a chance to ask questions about the load selection process. The contacts name is Amanda Hawkins and her email is ahawkins@landstar.com.

As far as where to buy your truck check out Lone Mountain Truck Leasing. They have a good program geared towards helping new O/O's get started. No big long complicated lease contracts or balloon payments, you pay a down payment of 3-5k and the balance is spread out over 36 months, when your done your done. They get alot of fleet returns and have a good selection to choose from. Your encouraged to take the truck off site for inspection and dyno and they wil provide you with the life time ECM report of any truck they have.

No on the APU. There is no bobtail insurance at LS, you must have Unladen Liability from Landstar's insurance company, Gallagher. No one else writes it to LS standards.

LS does have an APU discount program through LCAAP, and places to finance it through. The insurance isnt that bad, i forgot what the total cost is a week but its not that much. I have full coverage through Gallager/ls

truck inspection, drug test and dot physical other than that and the basic expenses that are prorated ie tags, ins, permits, ect i do believe base plate package cost me around 2,000 grand over 6 weeks. but i did see a thing a while ago that they where offering free base plates, not sure if there still doing that or not. but that will save you 1600 dollars

first off go to Ls online and fill the app out, then I do believe the nearest orientation center is Jeffersonville GA. As far as loads youd need to hit the load board and talk to some local drivers in your area and see what agents work there. Im taking it since you refrenced parked trailers you haul vans?
