    The 14 hour clock is unsafe and dangerous putting a time clock on safety is stupid.

    the subject came up because we were discussing how does an elogger plan his day
    he cant plan for a full 11hrs, because he has to take into consideration STUFF HAPPENS

    so he plans for 500mi or so a day, but he has to run that part fast, because if he doesnt "time manage" himself into a frenzy at the first 8hrs, all types of things can happen, so after his first 8hrs, he can take a break and hopefully drive another 3hrs and if the first 3 truckstops are full, he can park on a ramp somewhere

    compare that to the driver who starts at 6am, drives till noon, takes a shower, lunch and a 2hr nap and casually drives the remaining 5 hours without any stress, without some machine screaming you have 1 hr left, you have 30 minutes left, you have 5 min left, YOU ARE IN VIOLATION and he has to stop 100 miles earlier just to make sure that squawkbox doesnt get mad

    My first goal in july when the 30 min break starts as well as the 1 to 5 am restarts take place is to call the truck stops and buy parking spots....lmao can you just see the truck stops when this happens....all the elogers are going to get up at 5 am roll out at 6 am and 8 hours later trying to park....than after doing a mini nascar race in the truckstop parking lot leave pit road and hit the highway to finsh their last few hours and do it all again. heck if anything is see this REST BREAK reducing your 10 hr break time unless you milk your 14 riding around looking for a spot.....

    And yes in july you have to have 2 periods between 1 am and 5 am to get your restart.....more government crap and now they want to deball all trucks to 68 I think it was

    So true


    People think we lie on our paper logs to run our butts into the ground to make more and more money. yes true sometimes but most of the time we lie on paper to be able to relax avoid the BS on the roadways and still get where we need to be. I have done the elog and paper and on elog I was more tired and worn out than doing the same thing on paper but lying about the times. less of an 10 hour break but slept so much better and fell so much better

    drive when you are rested, sleep when you are tired

    and dont let anyone, not a dispatcher, not a boss, not a shipper, not a receiver, not DOT tell you otherwise

    You just described a split break scenario. The E logs make those much easier to do.

    I just turn the volume down and the screen off. My stop is planned before I head out for the day and if I run into problems I simply adjust the plan. If anything I have less stress and that certainly isn't caused by the Elog. To me it is much less stressful to just run legal to start with. When I was on paper the few times I pushed it I was much more stressed than I have ever been on E logs. I worried about the accident that wasn't my fault except for the fact that I was over an 11, 14 or 70.

    Generally, I would agree. But since there are so many nincompoops out here driving trucks, we have brought all of this nonsense on ourselves. If folks would have done more to act safe and not like a bunch of morons, then we might not have so many regulations. Now we have them, so we either learn to find ways to get things done with them or we park and bid trucking a big bye-bye.
