    I was out of Sumner when with SWIFT, the secret is to bug the planners not the DM. There were always a lot of drivers waiting for trips and It got to the point that I'd come through the door, the planner would see me coming and have a run on it's way to my Qualcom. Besause he knew I'd be bugging him every 5 minutes. Remember the old squeaky wheel adage...

    SWIFT in general is really starting to iritate me. No one in fontana can manage to do their job, my DM isn't so bad, but he isn't the best either. Next time I get to phoenix, ill be doing everything I can to be switched to that terminal. I hope that they're more profesional at headquarters. I can't even get a response from fontana, been sitting for 48 hours. Finaly got a pre plan thismorning for a pickup in dallas tonight but I can't even plan my trip because I haven't recieved my route or fuel stops. Been waiting on that for about 4 hours now.

    This has not been my experience at Roehl, however, I'm in my 4th or 5th week solo now so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm having a hard time keeping track of days because they go by so quick. there have been times when I wished they didn't hit me with a plan so quick so I could just take a breath. I did have one weekend where I brought in a relay on a friday and had a short relay out that wasn't due until monday. I actually got some maintenance done and some laundry too, albeit that one of the dryers was broke and the other was super slow to dry. I would rate our HQ terminal in Marshfield, WI the best and a nearby terminal in Appleton a close second. Our Gary Indiana terminal is being rebuilt and I hope that things there improve with the capital improvements to the facility. At this point in my driving career I'm surprised when i don't have a deadline to make and or things to keep me quite busy.

    I wonder if something is wrong with the qualcom again? I received directions that I didn't ask for to a place in CA. I'm headed to MT and am in CO right now.

    No problem with mine, incompetence was the problem. I called Fontana several times to walk them thru what needed to be done, received the messages while still on the phone.

    They failed to remove a tcall dispatch for the 19th after I told them that the load wouldn't be ready until tomorrow night. Then they gave me a pre plan for tonight, but dispatched me again for the tcall load from the 19th... Then dispatched me again for the aborted load on the 19th... Sometimes, I wonder...

    Oh today was a beautiful day. I left Bennett, CO at 0300 headed to Lander, WY. As luck would have it there was snow and ice on the road. The is ripped one of my wiper blades so I stopped hoping to get some quality wiper. No such luck. Ended up getting the elcheapo deluxe model as that was what was available. It's just about time to replace them already.

    I got to my 1st stop and could see right away things were not going to go well. It was an active construction site with lots of mud and a very narrow road. The guy who was trying to guide me in told me to "just run over the orange barrels, I don't care." He was serious. I found out later it was because he'd just gotten there yesterday and the barrels weren't his. I backed out onto the highway and parked as they had to "explain" a few things to me.

    I couldn't block the one lane mud lane in front of the construction site because the people who lived beyond it weren't happy with the whole project. They would really like it if I would back the 250 yards from the highway, down a muddy bank and get as close as I could to the storage containers. They assured me they could pull me out.

    I told them I would back up to a point I felt comfortable with and could do without getting stuck. I wasn't going to risk damaging the truck and getting a preventable crash just so they didn't have to drive the 4x4 forklift as far. I asked them who was unloading the truck, expecting them to say I as supposed to. No, they were going to do it. They used straps to pull the pallets to the back of the trailer. I asked them if they wanted to look at their copy of the B/L so they made sure they got the right stuff. It was blowing snow and they wanted me to hang on to it until they were done. Besides, they already knew exactly what they were supposed to have. I pointed out that part of the load didn't belong to them. The still didn't want the B/L until they finished.

    When I first got there the two guys told me it would take about a week to unload me. I told them I didn't care and that it would cost them $20 an hour for every hour after two that I had to sit. They adjusted their estimate to four hours. When it was all said and done it took about 2.75 hours. There was a place on the B/L where my arrival time and departure time had to be written. I took the time to write those times in myself and I'm glad I did. The Foreman tried to say I hadn't arrived until 1030 and he had just made the two hour limit. I explained to him that when I arrived I sent a msg and that everything was monitored. He then told me he'd better not be charged as he did the best he could with the blowing snow and mud. I was glad to be away from that place.

    I'm now sitting on the side of the road outside of Cody, WY. I have about a 2 hour drive to my final tomorrow. I sure hope I don't get snowed it here.

    Well, you sure are out in the middle of nowhere, aren't you!?

    I'm shut down in Limon, CO. Expecting 3-6" over night. I70 is shut down to the east, and it'll be snowing from here to my delivery in Denver tomorrow afternoon!

    Good thing I left all my winter gear at home last time I was there. Shorts and a t-shirt, 22 degrees, FUN!

    I thought about doing the same thing....and then thought better of it. It was 12 last night in Cody, Wy. I got up early and made it to my delivery early. Of course the place isn't open until 0800. My truck is a mess inside and out with mud, dried mud, frozen mud.

    Good luck getting your load in. I'm glad I missed that storm. I was a bit worried last night I might get some of it. I guess I passed through the back end of it.
