Has anyone been issued their new truck yet? How do you like it? What model did you get? How do you like the 9 speed over the 13 speed? Do the new trucks have satellite radio and power inverters? I've heard the 579's have flat screens in them. Would you rather have kept your old truck instead of getting a new one?

Wow. 7 questions in one sentance.
1.2.3.4. and 5 There have been a lot of new trucks issued. The first of the 579's went to the boat group as they had the oldest (Kenworths) in the fleet. I have not heard anything bad from the boat guys aside from minor "hickups" with the trucks.
6. The 579's come with both inverters and flatscreens.
7. As far as the old trucks compared to the new? It's an adjustment. From what I understand the 579's are to be the fleet replacement for the tired 379's. TMC has been known for the pretty 379 black and chrome trucks and I think that the 579's will take awhile to get used to as far as the image thing. Don't get me wrong,,,,the 579 is a very nice truck. It's just not the image that TMC was built on,,,,,yet. It will get there.
I was fortunate enough to get a 2013 388 which retained the look of the 379 only with the modern updates. I got the truck with 374 miles on it and now have 53000 on it. I wont give it up without a fight as I don't think anymore than 250 of the 388's were ordered.
Time will tell. -
I read that TMC has 1500 more 579's coming to replace the older trucks. I personally would rather have gotten the 388 over the the 597 not only for looks but it looks to have a larger sleeper on it then the 579's do. Also, did they go back to using duals over super singles the one 388 I've seen had duals?
-
Actually, the sleeper on the new 579's have been completely redesigned and has a lot more room. The trucks coming in now have only the bottom bunk. At some point they will have the upper as well.
They are all duals as well. TMC is moving away from the super singles. They all have Sat radio if you want to pay for it. -
Satellite radio is totally worth the 14 bucks a month, and alot of companies are going back to duals over super singles.
-
Rumer has is there is a major delay to us getting the 579's because they are single, not duel bunk. Suposibly pete is working on a new design for a 2 bunk 579. All the long haul guys are given dual bunk trucks and many of us are trainers.
I cant wait for the new truck. I want the bunk heater, larger sleeper, and a truck that is more reliable then my 379 with almost 1 million miles on it. -
Richter I seen in another thread you're a trainer, I have a question for you I have had my CDL for almost five years and I'm trying to get back into driving but i'm not sure if TMC would take would take me as a driver, because I have never attended a driving school.

Saw a few of the 579's , pretty sharp.
-
Do the new trucks have autos?
-
No autos they are 9 speeds they went from 13 speeds to those.
