I heard it really depends on the carrier. At Roehl I ran over a guard rail in July of 2011 then in December I hit a lightpole and a parked van. Nothing happened to me and my screw ups were worse than yours imo.
pattyj Thanks this. -
i personally havent done it...but i am sure you arent the only one...to drop a trailer and forget to uncouple ur lines.....
what happened with your backing incident??
and your teammate quitting shouldnt have anything to do with you.... -
Sheet happens, it happened to me once. Now I have a sequence that I always follow, unhook glad hands, pull pin, and crank down landing gear, always in that sequence. If I have a loaded trailer and it had a trailer bag dump, I dump bags first. This way you get it fixed in your brain and a good work habit is developed. I drive a day cab so I also look out the back window just to make sure. Only did it once and had the mechanic fix it, no big deal. And we don't use DAC.

Well the hoses is not a costly or critical damage its actually a 15min fix. A lot of guys carry extra pair of hoses because it happens. It happened to me on my training phase 4.5 yrs ago also but never again since then. A good learner learns from other peoples mistakes and when it does happen it only takes a good learner one time for it to never happen again. Good luck and pay attention driver.

Offer to pay for the lines. Or buy them and fiz them. If the cab wasnt hurt. It would be up to you if you told anyone

I've done that before. Didn't do any damage but I did feel like a moron.
LaBubba, CertifiedSweetie and Lonesome Thank this. -

Admit your mistake, be upfront with your responsibility. Let them know what you have learned and the improvement the incident has created in you. Slow down! As others have said, have a regular routine when coupling or uncoupling. The time I forgot, the gladhands slipped off the trailer and hit the back of the cab like a gunshot! It left a mark....

What stumped me was I wasn't expecting to drop my trailer at this customer. Threw me off a bit.
