while you are correct about all you say
the fact is it will come
they did it to every commercial fishing boat in the country
    all indepependent single owner buisnessmen
after 37 years owning boats between quotas and the logs i got out
little black boxes like an aircraft on every fishing boat with air traffic like controllers in Gloucester Mass
being able to click on any boat and see when he left the dock what he is fishing for
and if he has all the permits to do it
    so it is all coming

That's it in a nutshell. My ''mail man'' even has a GPS ''monitoring device'' on him now..He hates it and can't even stop and talk to his customers anymore without being ''scolded'' like a Little Baby. This whole working industry anymore is SICK...

i am going to deal with whatever comes my way. i would rather a regression in some regulations and more regulations in other spots. i can think of many other things to spend money and brain power on than pissing off one of the largest workforces on the continent

    mje Thanks this.

    thats the problem

many drivers dont see it that way, they love having to sit for 10 hours a day, getting their "rest" while away from home 168hrss a week, thats 70hrs out of 168, they are not working

as for me, even i drive 20 hrs straight, give me 6-7hrs of sleep and i am ready to go again, i may take a few cat naps the next day (notice, that is Me making the decision to get rest, not the govt)

if i sat for 10hrs straight, i would be tired after the 7th hour, by the time the 10hrs was up, i would be tired again

as you can see here, there are drivers who PREFER to answer to a computer, to have the computer to force them to obey the leaders, its easier, less work, less thought power, less responsibility

so you cant say the work force is being pissed off, they enjoy their golden showers

    they consider it rain

    landstar8891 and mje Thank this.

It's like everything else, there are ways around the reset. I've been out for 3 weeks now and yet to do a 34. Drive about 9 1/2 - 10 and your hours will roll over. As far as a 30 min break, is it so bad to sit down and enjoy a meal outside of your truck? Mountains out of mole hills.

So... Dinomite...because we folks come into an industry that is already over regulated, we are supposed to accept even more regulations, more limitations, more control, right? Government is not only "enforcing" HOS with electronic logs but also changing HOS, limiting our time to work even more, making it more difficult for us to do our job. :biggrin_25510: Yeah, I can do my job just fine, if the freaking government gets out of my way... And why would the folks who are unhappy with these changes go find another job? We are supposed to accept we have no power and we are just a bunch of dumb sheep, we should shut up, bend over, take whatever they give us, huh?... WOW! How brilliant! No wonder this government has been so successful screwing its people and doing whatever it wants... :biggrin_25513:
Nobody here is talking about not paying your bills... That would be irresponsible. What we are talking though is about the constant and growing intrusion of government in our lives, limiting our ability to work, to profit, controlling us. Yes, we do have limited freedoms in this country and we are going to continue to lose even more if we continue behaving as if this were no big deal...

Postal workers may get scolded but they have a strong union that will back them up if it goes further than that .
