Sounds like rates are almost as bad over there as they are here in CA!

What would it take for you to haul them?
How much would the permits come to?

Well no pilot cars at least,

    1. 4000 I couldnt scale this though but you would have 2days in that move till you loaded and unloaded and waited fot permits

    2. 7500 I might flex a little on this depending on what I saw on the other end, but its denver so....

Permits can get pricey when they are over weight. Each state is a little different. Some charge distance and weight. Others will just charge for the weight. My home state is one that charges weight and distance. It usually cost much more to run in Tennessee than the surrounding states. I try to avoid the state when I am over weight.

I do most of my own permits. I generally figure under 100k .60/mile including my administrative over 100K 1.00/mile. escorts, really wide etc... depends on a lot of factors. remember you have to pay up front in many cases for the permits.
dhooks you and me think alike. I told him 4300 on the KY and 8k on the Denver. He said that's XXXXX a mile ,no way. Wait I say you want 250k worth of my equipment with an experienced well compensated driver. to haul 400k worth of equipment. but you want it done for rates that I will barely haul general freight for and you want it on time etc... he said I get it hauled for my rates all the time. Really??? then why are you calling me I asked. Well your from that area blah blah blah. Ok thanks but no thanks have a good day. I know where the equipment is so I drove by today and guess what. it is still sitting there after a week. I'm tempted to call and ask him how it's goin but why bother I have paying freight to haul.

1st one at $5.17 per mile way to cheap. 2nd one 3.53 per mile even cheaper, no way. my rule of thumb is $1 per axle required and $1 per mile for permits. and fuel surcharge at .82 per mile. and that is the lowball rate.

Probably if the truth be known, most of you guys are stepping on each other to haul these two loads. In my 35 plus years of heavy hauling everyone sets around and talks about how much money they make per mile but they usually not telling the truth. A prime example is JD in Kernersville N.C. The company I am leased to bid the larger excavators out of there for 3.50 pm plus permits plus fuel and we have not got more than two or three loads out of there in the last six months. My point being is someone is hauling this freight at this price or it would never get hauled. As far as a dollar per axle plus fuel plus permits, you might get that with 13 axles or more but unless you got that kind of setup with some VERY strong contacts, there are way too many Andersons,Dailys,Combined and a few others to demand that kind of rate....

actually I get more than that. it's just a base line that I operate from. I don't do cheap I do dependable service, that in it's self gets me the rates I get.
