    Howdy all.

I'm looking for the best place to get quotes on shipping a load from Michigan to LosAngeles. Want to stay away from the big companies in hopes of our loads not bouncing through terminals and getting the stuffing knocked out of them. We ship industrial equipment, conveyor mostly. Some custom machinery.

Can anyone suggest the best on line places to post a load for shipment? Hoping to find folks that give a rip. A trucker friend suggested posting to this site.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason

Are you planning on shipping a full load or LTL freight?

I suspect that Roadway could probably help you with your shipment. If you are worried about freight damage, you can get a sealed 32' or 53' for your freight only... to be loaded by you (or your shipper) at source and to be offloaded by your receiver (or you) at its destination.
    Good luck on your search.

Ever heard of Pacific Atlantic Freight (freightshippingcenter.com)? I filled in the blanks there and got quotes from the big companies that were significantly lower than dealing with them directly.

    Bad idea? Proceed with caution?

Everyone puts out the highest rate on the web. This seems like a reasonable way to go.

    Comments?

You'r looking at 2300 miles or thereabouts. If you are looking at full loads I wouldn't haul it for less than $2000. I don't do LTL but I would assume it should be cheaper but most LTL carriers are large co's so that they have the freight base to fill trailers

Another company you may want to check out is BTL (Brink Truck Lines) out of holland, I know they do some California work.

I'll check out Brink. Thanks Hott Rod.

Thanks also Eskimo. $1500 is median what I'm finding. Next time I'll budget higher.

Can either of you guys tell me the game that Pacific Atlantic Freight (freightshippingcenter.com) is playing? They seem legit and actually have been around since 1984. Are they what is considered a broker? I punched in my dims and weights on their website and was quoted from more than 5 companies that they rep for. ABF, FedEx, Roadway, Yellow, USF, etc.

I go to USF's site and it's 3k. I got to Pacific Atlantic and it's half. Is this too good to be true?

Only problem I have is their address doesn't check out on Google Maps. Addy sticks them in a residential area. I'll call them on Monday.

    Thanks again.

I am not familiar with them at all, but now that you have got me curious and I have some time, I'm going to go check it out.
