Well the end of yet another loooooong week. 6,600 miles and nearly 20 hours of clock time. I'm a very tired pup. Going to see comedian Jason Alexander tonight. Should be a good weekend.

I'm on a sub-turn shape. A sub-turn is two halfs, example ill go to my old terminal 150 first, 86 miles each way. Then I might get a Scranton which is 117 miles each way. We have a lot of satellite terminals close by. It i might go to Philly, then to let's say Allentown from there. So I won't be doing the same run every night. I might do 126 first, then back and do 187, then the next day something else. You can make the same mileage or a little less than a long turn but we also get more clock time.

long turn is normally going to one far away terminal, like Harrismentburg, Plattsburgh, Boston, Manchester. All 200+ miles away each way.

then there is layover, which we all know.

@skinny hope that cleared it for you. And 6600 miles, wow I'm pooped after 2600 miles.

@Squonk that looks nice, wish I had your money LOL

Same way at Reddaway. The guys here have been here for 20+ years and they always say they don't plan on retiring. I'll still get a bid though. I'm top dog on the extra board right now!

    ACH, congrats on the bid!!!

Well, hit a very bad backup on north I65 on my way to Indy via Louisville, sat for 2 hours (camper trailer turned over and spilled it's guts everywhere). Anyway, ran out of hours, had to bed down in Louisville. Man, nice hotel. Sitting in their restaurant waiting on my T-bone dinner.

first day of my new bid

7am I start and was doing the X47 rail yard in Jersey, bob-tail with dolley, had the same truck as yesterday too, brand new white one. Go down, hook the set and go back to 123. Now I have 10 hours duty left, and 7 3/4 drive time. Then I got a set going to 132 (Long Island, I grew up on Long Island so I know everything about it and the L.I.E. 495) Then I bob-tailed with dolley back to jersey to X47 again, sat in traffic for two hours on the Cross Bronx EXWY(this is worse than i84), hooked my set, found my friend who I used to work with back at CWF(hes at YRC as well) so he was busting my chops over the CB telling me Im getting warmer/colder to my trailers. AFter that, head back to 123.

380 miles, and about 3 hours clock paid time not too bad, more money than the Harrismentburg turn LOL

Although today building and breaking sets I was like what did I get myself into, I miss my Long-turns. But then I got my reality check, Only 5 days a week now, and get called before others.

@Squonk yea we got a few late 70's guys, they all hog the GOOD layover runs. You'd think at their age they would want to do long-turns. Then theres guys in the 60's, A LOT in their 50's, A lot in there 40's, few in there 30's not much, then there is 3 of us in our 20's (Im still the youngest....)

We do got this one old guy whos been there forever who does bid the extra board. He says its to keep everyone happy and give a chance to the guys who dont have as much time as he does to have a bid. he also says its because hes an old man, nothing to do so he doesnt mind the extra board, although he does take all the good runs offered to him(cant blame him).

Going to Trenton, NJ. New Jersians don't obey driving laws, red light light means stop if you want too
