How long does it take..........

Can anyone most realistically answer my question?: I completed training with Prime four years ago, however, due to a tragic event, I was unable to return to solo with Prime. They never sent me a bill to have me pay them back for my training. So, according to your post, they probably put this on my DAC? Are you saying that by me not returning to solo with them, that my trucking credit is ruined and therefore my name in trucking is ruined? Hence: I won't be able to get back into trucking? I am willing to pay for a refresher course and hope that a company like Schneider would be willing to take me on in Orientation and Training. Anyone truly know what my chances of getting back into this industry are? Thank you, Twicebit.

 

Try getting your DAC report first so you know what's in it. I've included instructions how to get it.

DAC reports were available from USIS, but they are now handled by a private company called HireRight. To receive your report, you must mail in a Consumer Report Request Form, or you can request your free DAC report from HireRight online: http://www.hireright.com/Disputes/Report.aspx

It takes HireRight approximately 15 days to process your request and send you a free copy.

Sounds like your in pretty dire straights. At this point you have no options IMO. you need to go to anyone that will train you. One issue your still might have is where are you going to live while going thru CDL training?

We can all sit here and point out the negatives in everyone one of these companies. Hell I do it to. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

 

You are going into trucking as a last resort, so it seems. Beggars cannot be choosers, take what you can get, and tell them thank you.
However,you are doing this for all the wrong reasons, and I doubt you will adapt to the challenges of hauling freight. Just my observations from your posts.

If you call truck driving schools in your area you may qualify for a government grant or loan. Find out what companies recruit from each school. Someone I know went to a technical school approved by Schneider. Upon graduation Schneider hired him, paid him a $3500.00 sign on bonus and deducts money from his pay each week to repay the loan. Pick a company you think you want to drive for, call the school to see if that company recruits there then call the company to verify the school is one they accept. You will find a lot of misinformation and lies in trucking so it is best to check as much as you can. Hope this helps.

 

Best of luck to you, numbers! It looks like you've gotten sound advice here. One think I would add would be to clean up well, shave, have clean neat clothes and if you can get to local companies, arrange personal visits with them in their offices. You may not feel confident and may be depressed, but mask these feelings. Work to have an aire of confidence during your meetings. Be polite and use good language, and remember, what interviewers want to hear, I believe, is why YOU would be a benefit to them if they hire you! Sure, you need a job, and you'll get one if you don't talk all about yourself and your needs and your desires, to them. Don't give your sad story, would be my recommendation, though I am not diminishing the difficulty of your situation. Sure, you could say you've been struggling, however, try to guide the conversation back to the company and the benefit they would receive by hiring you. Make it about them, not you. Why? Because most people make it about them and not the benefit they can provide to the company. Do the opposite of what the herd does. You will stand out in this way.

Sounds like you need to market yourself to competing catering companies in the area. I'm sure there are plenty of them.

 

You cannot blame any one single compant because an individual show bad personal mangement. Get over it and go to work quit crying.
