If they made my bed, it would be the first time it was made in a long time.

My father is a retired DOT inspector/county cop in metro Atlanta, he told me he only wrote unmade bed tickets to drivers that acted like ##########, mouthed off on the cb before he got out of the car or smelled like they hadn't bathed in weeks. He also said that a poorly kept sleeper was an indicator that he'd find other violations 80% of the time.

That is the dumbest thing i have heard in a while.

My house is spotless, my car, big truck and motorcycle are spotless, everything is in its proper place (according to my likes), and other than my time in the USMC, my bed at home or my my truck is NEVER made .. I like my blankets a mess .. The few times I use them.

Read the statute the wording isnt vauge at all, there is no mention of a passenger or team operation only that the belts are required and anything required in the green book can be checked for, they can also look for proper bedding and bedclothes....dont get me wrong, i dont agree with it but i do know how the system works.
You have to know how the system works before you can get around it...believe me, id be the first person to take those stupid belts out of my sleeper but my luck is to get that 1 in a 100 cop that would write me a ticket for it.
In 30 years of driving ive never had that checked for but at this point in my life id rather not spend $100+ just b/c some hardazz cop needs to make his quota.

I said technique has an 80% reliability rate, obviously that would mean that 20% of the time people have messy bunks and well maintained, no violation trucks. Assume this means you're in the 20% so I don't have to explain confirmation bias.

I have always removed those safety restraints out of the bunk area on my sleepers. Have never had an issue with anyone checking for them. Those things, especially on the Columbia I have now, were bolted to the back wall and hung, looking stupid. Within a week of buying the truck, I got out some tools and removed them. My previous truck, it was easy to keep them stashed under the bunk. They were not bolted to the wall. Again, a lawyer could easily run with that one if an LEO wanted to make it an issue.

Irregardless, it is amazing what most, not all, of LEO's will not worry about unless you want to play hard ball with them. You don't have to volunteer anything other than what is already required they need to know, but you also do not have to be a total idiot. It is when you are that way, then they will come up with ways to mess you over.
