Don't get me wrong, I got a dog and love that old mutt. The company i work for use to allow pets in their company trucks and now they won't. From the looks of the last truck that ended the policy i can see why, the truck was a mess, it stunk like a wet dog, hair everywhere, nobody else would want to get in and drive that truck. Cost them $200 to have the interior cleaned. I had one driver ask me if he could take his dog with him in my truck, i flat told him no after seeing that, i got too much invested in that truck. I personally don't see anything wrong with a small short haired dog, but if you allow it and the next driver comes along with a German Shepard it's not right to tell him no. Everyone is different, a friend of mine takes his wife and JR terrier with him everywhere, I've been in that truck and you would never know they had a dog. It's all how you take care of your truck. It's the ones that don't take care of their truck thats ruined it for you, and it's easier for a company to say no and leave it at that. Good Luck on finding a company that lets you take your buddy.

Yeah....I understand the reasoning and all. It just sucks for me. I am either going to have to come up with cash for school so I can go with USXpress, or I may have to head to Swift or Werner. At least they allow pets...heck they can't afford to turn anyone around. No better yet they could afford it they just don't want to lose a warm body that they can enslave!

I hear ya, ya might think twice before jumping into some of these outfits, they might allow your pet, but they'll treat you like a dog. Good luck on your search.

Isnt that what the pet deposits are for? To clean up after the pet that had been in there? Most companies that I have seen charge a $500 deposit for pets just for that reason.

Exactly. A $500 pet deposit would have taken care of that.

You could also put a weight limit on it like a lot of apartments have done these days. No dogs over 20 pounds, etc.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just talked to Swift and they do still allow pets. Not sure if maybe they temporarily didn't allow them and now they do or what, but as of now they are allowing them.

So today I have found that my options are Swift, Werner, and CRST. Wow what choices!!! LOL

Actually I heard this from another trucker
Funny how stories fly in the trucker world, my brothers best friends neighbor has it first hand that he over heard another guy saying the facts as he heard them. LOL

Watkins and Shepard also allows pets with no pre-defined limitations other than you have to finish your probation period (90 days) first and of course you pay a refundable $500 cleaning/damage deposit.
Check 'em out, great company to work for!
