KMac - Thanks for your postings. Ex-Navy here, been working for the Navy as a contractor for awhile and getting "fed-up" with not know whether or not I have a job every fiscal quarter. So I am beginning the stage of a career change to my child-hood desire to become a truck driver. Will be using remainder of my Post 9/11 for CDL A schooling while still having my current employment in place. Thanks for you valuable input concerning your experience.

Just bought home here in Lemon Grover over a year ago....what companies yard their equipment at Otay (or nearby)?
-
Scotty...SD is the end of the line and beyond. There are 100 drivers applying for ANY position available. When I use to run an ad or look for a driver, I would have 50 or 60 applications the first day.
There are some good jobs around there, but they go to friends, relatives and such. Hardly ever get advertised. The jobs are up in LA, Riverside, Ontario. There were a coupld LTL operations in Kearny Mesa, but I'm not sure they're still around.scottybones Thanks this. -
Emulsified - so you are saying that more than likely that closest too home would be North County but more likely around LA?
-
If you mean by North county, Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, then no... jobs just are hard to come by in all of San Diego County. The transportation centers, distribution centers, rail centers, etc are located in Riverside, SB, Orange and LA counties. Ergo the trucking jobs are there. Most companies treat SD as a sattelite market and bring trucks down daily, but they go back up north when alls done.
