Why do you guys make this so complicated? I have bought at least 15 different trucks over the years from different states. The only two (2) things you need for that of ANY motor vehicle to be legal to drive on us roads is, Insurance, and Temporary, or permanent plates. Thats it. Now when you want to haul loads then thats a whole different story. You can get bobtail or whatever insurane will give you a valid Insurance ID card with the VIN number from the truck you are going to buy. Then if you are buying from a truck dealer they should be able to provide temporary tags to get you where you want to go. Whether you decide to keep the insurance coveage on the truck while it is parked on your property is only up to you. The temp tag does not require this, only if you are on a public highway. Just be sure you conferm with your dealer they issue temporary plates.

If its FINANCED ( for those not PAYING cash ) you better keep the INSURANCE coverage active even if its sitting on your property.

My post had NOTHING to do with your post or the OP , it was generalized INFO that might be handy to others reading the thread.

Besides its common sense to have the basic FIRE / THEFT / DAMAGE insurance on a vehicle when its parked if you PAID cash or not , a lot buying their first truck are not rolling in $ to take the loss if its stolen or damaged.

I keep seeing trucks with "in transist" scribbled on them when they are purchased and moved from the dealer to their new home until everything is up to par to start hauling loads.
