What do you plan to haul? Dry, refer, flatbed, over dimensional? Long haul, regional, local? Where do you live, what type of industry exists where you're from. Where does it go, what will you bring back? All pay differently, all have different freight lanes. What type of equipment will you run? Lease, rent, purchase or a combination of both? Freight rates are just one of about a million questions you need to ask...

Ok, I see your point. Now that the right question(s) are/is posted hopefully we can get some good responses. But sometimes I think when we try to dig up their personal details some won't participate.

Please if you are going to respond give as much details as you can spare. All input is greatly appreciated.

I don't see anyone making $2.00 a mile on all miles as a O/O. Your not always loaded especially having your own authority there is just no way. I can see being leased on making $1.40 a mile for all miles sometimes I think it might be worth it because if your driving deadhead for a couple hundred miles to get out a dead area atleast you are making money and not taking a loss.

For the last 2 years I've averaged 2.11 per odometer mile leased to a company.

Is that what was paid to the truck, or is that before the company's cut?

That's after the cut, what I actually received as compensation. If I moved out of FL, or stayed out longer than a week, I could make a lot more.

A self fulfilling prophecy in the making...........

You set limits for yourself and you will attain only those self imposed limits.

$2.44 every mile the truck turned last year, before fuel. Hauling blades for @7 months. Way oversize, but legal weight
This year will be roughly the same if not a little less, doing combines. I get over $4 a mile, but normally d/h back to the shipper after delivery. Sometimes (like now) I get a load to take back, so double dip so to speak.
@14' wide and @84k lbs gross when loaded
    Figures are to the truck.
Leased onto a company, their trailers.

$2.19 a mile to the truck last year, that's after company I'm leased to's cut and on 76K miles total, 23% of which were deadhead miles paying zilch, pulling a 53' dry van. Trending about 10 cpm higher this year and about the same deadhead. If I believed what others said about you can't do that with a van I never would have. I determine the rate I roll on and it ain't for going rate peanuts.
