Wow, I just spilled about a quart of love. Trainers are people that will share the chance they had. I followed the creed. (when you know) Teach one how to drive. We drove team 1 1/2. Widower & a Kid. Trainers are a gift, be kind. You will be fine.

I doubt there are many truly awful trainers. My trainer was awesome. Now I am a trainer and I am awesome...LOL

Wow, I have never heard so many that knew more then there trainers to start with.

To start off understand that the truck has to move to make money, this is first and foremost. I have trained more drivers then I can recall right now. I first off let them know the rules of my truck before we leave the first company yard.

During the first week I spend more time in the shot gun seat then later on. I do not start off requiring a new driver to drive a full shift if they are not comfortable with doing so. I does not change I do not make any money when the truck is not moving/ Your learning so you are the one whom needs to adapt. As far as logging I do use
trainees unused hours if need to deliver on time.

If a trainee thinks they are not going to directions, then they will not to ask for a new trainer, they will be put out at the next company yard. I will train a driver how to make a good safe living and to do so with incurring tickets, and fines. Safety is everything, however he truck has to roll to make a living. After the first couple of weeks a trainer should not need to sit up the whole time your driving. Save your questions or if its important wake me up I don't mind thats why Im there, but The trainer is not a baby sitter, they are there to teach you what you need to know. Once on the open interstate a new driver should be able to handle it.

Rule 1 do not start off telling them what you will and won't do. Rule 2 If in doubt about say a logbook question, ask, don't demand. Ruke 3 It's there house your moving into, keep most of your stuff at home, just bring clothes for 2 weeks, and personals like soap, shampoo, etc...
