Ok I stand corrected if you take.your ytd divided by number of miles driven you might make more then 2 a mile simply because the 2.5 or 3.00 will cover your deadhead miles. But that saying you have to rob peter to pay Paul your still not getting paid for empty miles plainly put iand f you ha ve your authority and getting paid for empty miles give me that guys info.

With my ytd divided by loaded miles i average over 2.75 i will never include my loss miles with my profit miles. Im not gonna average my miles to feel better about myself for not making money on empty miles. Makes more sence to focus on profit from loaded and figure out how to minimize empty. Empty is empty no matter how you look at it if my cups empty doesnt make it full because i have a bottle to fill it with your still taking a loss

I indeed DO get paid for empty miles on a lot of the stuff I haul, so he was wrong there too. Add it to the list maybe?

In that case let me boost my average. The 8 loaded mile load I took paid me $100 PER MILE TO THE TRUCK, the 245 empty miles don't count. I should be on KR's show now.

When I take my GROSS revenue, that is the total amount of all my checks, [ no deductions, have all my own insurance ] and divide it the all miles driven last year according to my speedometer [ even miles driving to shop,bob-tailing home, etc. ] , I averaged $2.36 per mile
. Worked average of 4 1/2 days a week for 50 weeks last year, slightly less than 1200 miles a week.
I run intra-state in Florida, pulling a flat-bed owned by the shipper, home nearly every night.
I learned a long time ago if you want to make $$$ trucking, you have to find something to do that is different.Offer other services besides just hauling the product, be willing to do what the shipper requires when he wants it, and how he wants it, and find someone who appreciates you enough to keep you happy, if you keep them happy. Smaller businesses often like that personal touch.
There are profitable deals out there, you just have find them, be willing to work as the loads require
, and do a good job
.
