Good to know, I wouldn't really need a shower or laundry there anyway, since if I'm there I'm probably on my way home for a day or two. Just thought it was odd that drivers didn't have weekend or off hours access to paperwork or a restroom. Hope you have some good days off...I know I did. Heading back out tomorrow morn.

Hey Sal just missed ya at the Modesto terminal. Made the death run across traffic to get my burrito, good stuff. In Phoenix now with William.

Chaining does suck. My first week out and it was required over Snoqualmie pass. Ran into guys out here who haven't had to do it in ten years, and here I am doing it my first week, that sucked. Make sure you pay attention during that lesson, because in my opinion you should really get a more thorough chaining lesson than what you will get, so at least make sure you pay attention to every second of what they do tell you. Will make your life a lot easier. As much as I hated it, was kinda pround that I got em on and they stayed on.

Depends. 10-14 days if you are regional. 21 days or so if you fun the lower 48.

Basically, if you request hometime and give them a few days notice, they will route you there. The seem very flexible and don't want to run you ragged unless that's what you want. If you have an important date to be home they will make every effort to get you there.

can you get into regional fairly quick out of school or do you have to put in a few years?

You can go straight to regional if there is an opening.

I know several that done just that.

Home time varies from terminal to terminal. I generally get home for the weekends, sometimes during the week.

I'm home now...because I am sick. Got in yesterday, should have left today. Wanted to give it 24/48 hours to see if the fever was gone.

You can choose either Regional (I am western 10 states) or lower 48 right out of school. AFter 90 days you can go flatbed or local (dedicated).

how do we know what regional and local jobs are at the company or when they open? I don't see any kind of resource for that at WS?

Simple enough. :) Speak with your FM, let them know you want to go regional or local. Also, speak with the terminal manager at your "home" terminal.

Your terminal manager is going to have more to do with the actual process, since it is their job to see after the needs of their terminal.

The distance you live from the terminal will play a factor also.

And, Missoula occasionally sends out a QC call to drivers to let them know they need regional/local drivers in certian areas.
