No they do not. They provide written directions as a suggested route but you are free to route yourself. They just ask that we keep our out of route below 10%.
I rarely even use GPS any more.

If you want GPS you will have to have your own.

Drivers have gotten so lazy about map work and too much reliance on gps that now the FMCSA thinks they need to make it required that truckers are trained in proper gps usage in a truck. SMH

And I bet it would come with a cheap certificate that would put a few more bucks in their kitty.

Have you hauled loads other than glass or do you stay busy just with glass? Also do you have a ballpark idea of what they would start someone with no flat or glass exp. but four months driving otr. Thanks for your help!

I do occasionally haul non glass loads but 9/10 have been glass. They try not to have us haul non glass because we get paid more to do it than a driver from the flatbed division would.

I can't say much for what your starting rate would be since you have some experience but not enough to qualify as an experienced driver. For glass 6-11 months OTR exp starts at 48CPM and 12+ months starts at 49CPM. Students, which you might end up starting as, start at 40CPM.

Since you have less than 6 months OTR experience you will be required to ride with a trainer for a minimum of 21 days.
