By hitting the edit button. Do it enough times on different days and get those hours back.

    1) You need to be approving your qualcomm logs daily (this is your electronic signature -- same as signing paper log at the end of the day). You cannot edit once that time period has been approved.

    2) You cannot edit drive time, so unless you load your own truck, I don't see how you can have 6 hours on-duty time to shave over the course of 6.5 days (or less). Especially as a team driver. Almost an hour a day?

Above all drive safe & legal, but I suspect you tend to forget to change duty status when you're no longer on duty.

Being held up at shippers while they're loading, if I go off duty I don't get detention pay.

Perfect example: he stopped for the night, just now, with 4.5 hours of drive time left. Yeah I'm moving on, probably just go solo.

Ah I get it now. No detention while in sleeper berth either?

Go solo -- the pay cut hurts, but the improved sleep & reduced stress make it worthwhile.

as a team u dont need 34 hrs off stopped....

driver 1 goes in the sleeper the last 10 hrs of the previous trip. thus starting the 34 hr clock.

driver 2 drives the final leg of the trip del or drop whatever and starts his 34 hr clock.

actual time stopped is 24 hrs....by the time the 24 hrs is up, driver 1 has 34 hrs.

driver 1 then gets next load or proceeds with current one, whatever the case may be, and drives 10 hrs....that then gives driver 2 his needed 34 hrs as well, but total time down was only 24 hrs. its called a rolling restart...

HOWEVER, since i got off the road, i am not familiar with the new HOS that are coming into effect or may have alrdy (breaks between certain hrs)....

there is NO way i would edit logs .....on a computer.....its ur rear end if you get caught...and how about any fuel stops that may have happened in the time u r gonna edit....years ago you could get away with droppin trips etc....safety will see if you are editing your logs that much....

DO NOT EDIT YOUR LOGS! If something happens, even if it wasn't your fault it will be, and prison is a very hard place to think about the "coudl'ves" and "would'ves." Make sure to let your carrier know what happened, maybe the load can be repowered, the appointment rescheduled, etc, maybe not. The FMSCA is notorious for going back through and looking for edited logs, and then insisting upon seeing the originals (either on paper or backup servers). They can also find the electronic backups with whatever electronic service (ie Qualcomm) being used by your company, if the company's backup is somehow "missing." It can come back to bite you for at least 6 months, the minimum time companies are required to retain your logs.

As for the team driver you are working with, time for a change. Expecting you to do something illegal to cover his mistakes is definitely wrong, worse than allowing you to work 12% more than he does, while he gets paid for half that extra work you are doing.

Whats so bad about pushing the limit? Thats why its there. This job is about Capitalism not stopping to play Nintendo, if youre not moving youre not earning.

In this case it may not work but ive had several times where i ran a full week at 79 1/2 hours to get a load there on time...and was legal the entire time.

Go solo or find a new job where you can solo. Teaming is terrible and not for everyone.
