Please excuse this wannabe's question, but what do you mean you, "lost your trailer," then had to get your old trailer emptied out?

If I was a "businessman" I'd be smart enough to not be in trucking!

I just like trucks. The rest is easy.

I think what happens is that you CAN afford to sit home and wait for the good stuff! But are you at a point where waiting too long does not pay the bills?

There probably are a lot of desperate BCO's who wait and wait and eventually they have to take something to survive or just pay the monthly expenses.....

Bad way of thinking, I know....but probably does happen..

That's the way vast majority of these spot operators roll. They cannot lose a day at all, stay out weeks at a time.. It's the vicious cycle that happens when an individual has huge bank loans hanging over their head. I passed up on a probably 2 dozen very poor loads this morning, 3 very good ones, and then landed a great one about a half hour ago. That is how it goes when you're not working for the banks. Then you set, and in turn get, the rates that make you happy... One rule that I live and die by, I do not need ANY load out here. It was funny how the one I booked, the guy explained the freight in great detail which as I heard details made me smile... said he noticed my specialty "expedited" noted in the cmments when he clicked on my name, said he knew he had his truck - and, surprise, did not offer a ridiculously cheap rate.. I countered for an extra $100 just for fun and he gave it without hesitation.

Clicked on your name ?....where is your name at to be clicked on? Do you bid on the loads and then they can get back to you?

I'm new....trying to see how this works...

Had my truck posted empty/available on ITS (internet truck stop) loadboard - ITS is not in any way affiliated with Landstar although some of their agents will call trucks posted there. Did not bid on this load. Random brokers call and offer their freight, I sit here punching in cities/states on googlemaps checking what they tell me, seeing/knowing exactly what I need to roll on their load - then ask them what they offer.. ..to be so disgusted and disappointed many times over and over again lol. Always a shocker to make such a good contacts like that from ITS but it's not the first time that's happened.

When you post you truck empty on internet truckstop and even getloaded, you can put specific details in. Like "expedite experience" or blanket wrap etc.
Brokers can search trucks just as carriers can search loads.

From what I saw of landstars board, same thing there.

    Ain't technology grand.

Sometimes I'll post my truck just to see how many "hits" I get, gives me a pretty good idea of availability....

I've always found it interesting that no one ever calls in the morning, and then sometimes in the late afternoon it'll just "go off"..... call, after call...

I'm notorious for forgetting to unpost my truck....

One time, I'm in the dock loading, it's like 1800 and my phone rings...... I have my blue tooth on so I click it and answer the call "blind"..... "please tell me you have a truck available in Buffalo!!!" the guy is shouting......

I say, "sorry, but..." and the phone goes click as he hangs up...

I'll always wonder what that was, and how much more I could've gotten if I wasn't already busy ..... lol...
