I'm willing to do what it takes to be successful but I can't work for a company that doesn't have a drivers success in their interest. I know many leasing company's out there aren't in the business to see a driver succeed, witch is the big down fall. I have the experience as a driver and the know how, what I don't have is faith in so many of these company's trying to lease trucks

Read the linked thread, and decide for yourself. I'm about to complete a 3-year lease, and I've made a very reasonable living during that time. I took off about 2-1/2 weeks last year, and haven't had trouble getting home when I needed to. Its a business opportunity, and what you make of it is up to you. It's not employment on steroids.

When someone goes through Primes CDL school can they go straight in to flatbed or do they have to go from Refrigerated to Flatbed ?

We have three people in the current class (that I'm aware of) going straight to flatbed.

They do give you the option of taking up to a $200/week advance that they will take out at $25/week once you are out of PSD. But yeah, saved $$ is good.

It all depends on if there are enough flatbed trainers when you go through. If not you'll do some time in reefer, 20k I think, then switch over to flatbed for securement. Or you could stay reefer the whole way then go to securement boot camp. There are more reefer trainers than flatbed obviously.

They will try to get you straight on a flatbed truck though.

So yet another few questions: hubby & I are filling our 'information bucket' with all we can. I have asked questions and have gotten great answers. Here is another: it is my understanding that Prime will set up lease drivers with a CPA who in turn gets you all set up with a company name and helps you get incorporated, in Missouri. I'm all for separating business from personal. But we live in Pennsylvania. Is this a problem? When we cut ourselves a paycheck, how much should it be to keep our personal taxes low? Should we incorporate in Pennsylvania ourselves and keep it all in the same state or does that not matter?

First question: How long have you been driving truck? If the answer is "Less than one year", be a company driver until that answer changes so you have a chance to learn the industry.

Ironpony has a good thread dedicated to leasing:
