Just wondering if any of you still listen to those Grand Ole Opry singers like George Jones. Do you listen to the Grand Ole Opry on the radio Friday and Saturday nights on 650am. You really hate to see the classic country singers fade away. "Finally Friday" is my favorite George Jones song. That's real country music.

Thought he had died many long years ago. Last time I listened to him was in the 70's.

Yeah I liked Geo Jones, a unique voice, great for country. Love his song,"She thinks I still care". even sing it at Karaoke often.

Shame on you. He should have died a lot of times from his drunken ignorant lifestyle. Went to see him 3 times over 20 yrs and he showed up once. Lived up to that No Show Jones label. Incredible, unique voice. They say their is a fine line between genius and insanity and I think it's true. Lot's of artistic people in music, movies , theater wind up like Jones. Same with superb athletes. More than normal amount wind up screwed up. Guess it's a trade off like everything else in life.

My mother liked him. She'd be playing George Jones in one room and I'd be playing Led Zepplin in the other! :)

All these famous people dying make you realize how old you really are! :biggrin_25524:

Me too. That would bring tears to a glass eye. Top 5 all time country songs without a doubt.

I miss the ole timers. I really don't think anybody can fill their shoes. I'm glad I got to see the Grand Ole Opry years ago. Grandpa Jones and Porter Wagner. I still occasionally listen to the Opry on 650 am wsm . Friday and Saturday nights 7:00pm central time. I wonder how far out their tower reaches? I picked up the signal one weekend on vacation in southern Georgia. Came in clear.
