What I find interesting is all this talk about hours and hours spent looking for profitable rates, and that a driver just doesn't have the time for this like they do...lol... It doesn't take me long to locate good paying freight, and it doesn't take me long to locate great paying freight.... It's not where you are, it's when you are...lol... you can make call after call at the wrong times and get lowball offer after lowball offer, and if you fall into a desperate mindset, "omg I've got to get out of this area, looks like this rate is as good as it gets..." then you will get your rear end handed to you.... but, if you learn how and when things get good, and patiently wait, then you will have a fresh mind and a killer instinct and be properly positioned....and you will get your rate.... it's all about timing, tone, and projecting confidence, and I'm sorry, but all of you "professional dispatchers" out there are really nothing more than junior brokers busily trying to double broker freight, I mean really, taking a percentage off the top for "finding" a good load?? Good loads aren't found, they're made.....lol.... and let's not kid ourselves, "professional dispatchers", you're busy trying to make yourself a buck, and doing it by snowing some driver with the line, "I've got your best interest at heart and I work harder for you than you do"...lol... I hear Allen Lund is hiring...lol....

iPhones are great - if you are a 12-year old girl. But for business you need real phone with real power.

Just went from the SIII to the Note. Samsung is making an great phone. I look at those little phones and it feels like my whole finder would take up the screen.

I use the Samsung products myself, and the Motorola lap dock that my Samsung plugs into.... in just seconds I'm on the net searching the boards with my little lap dock, and I can click on the phone link and talk to the broker on my bluetooth while I'm actively scrolling through loads.....

I am a dispatcher I charge 5% of the loads. I try not to go lower than 1.60 the mile.

As a dispatcher/Independent Freight Sales and ex-driver with years of experience, your posts are the hammer hitting the nail. But some people just prefer to just drive and pay a small fee. Its like some people prefer to go to a travel agency for a airline ticket than, go online to search for thier deals. I have been involved with the Sales department with major freight companies and those people are like sharks in a blood tainted water sometimes. I know that O/O with good experience are the same, the game of the negotiations and satisfaction of a great deal on freight is an amazing feeling.

We won't even touch that low through the company we pull for, why the heck would I go that low for someone who's taking another chunk off the top? Not happening. $1.60 per mile don't make our truck move.
