I second that a 3 car isn't gonna cut it OTR. I can do it, plus pay my $250 monthly truck payment (1996 IH cab over single axle) and $820 month insurance (was $420 when I ran my dually) mostly with ##### loads and occasional local broker work because I stay close, SoCal to Sacramento (500 miles) and only take good loads. I won't start my truck for less than $1.50 a mile. Even on CD (which sucks unless you got a dispatcher working for you) I set the filter to .50 cents or more. Let the big guys take that 30 cpm garbage, they can afford to. I also moved out of my 1 ton because I want somewhere comfy to sleep when I actually need to, but now I'm looking for a 5 or 6 car trailer LOL. The good thing about my old school 12" I-beam wedge is that I can load heavy equipment w/o cracking welds, I won't be able to do tht with a nice sun country 5 car. Gotta decide if I want to trade in my wedge or keep it and take on a bigger loan for a bigger trailer....

kaufman's website sucks. they use 2 or 3 pictures to represent all of the different models.

Take 3 is better than kaufman hands down, or maby hands up lol. had a kaufman......many cracked welds, baby mesh deck. cant carry nothing but cars. take 3, especially an older model can carry weight. now im hauling bobcats, sprinters, UDs. not trying to put that brand of trailer down but its the truth. now i have noticed the take 3s go better with larger single axle trucks rather than duallys because they are heavier.

I start my truck at .85 per mile or even $0.75, if i run 500 miles with 3 cars the third car takes the fuel the 2nd car takes insurance and the 3rd goes to pocket. do this 2 times a week. (with return loads) is about 2250 a week. take out your fuel $700 and your making 1550 a week. I dont see any problems even when i dead head. but you must have a good set up, idk how the gas mileage with duallys are but im averaging 14 mpg empty and 12 loaded. And i hear truck payments kill alot of people in this business. there are "dry" days lol ( no work) oh yeah i haul mostly "inops" the kinda stuff 10 car carriers dont adore.

Hey Truckman, so you're saying that you will run for 85 cpm? Is that between 25 and 30 cpm per car? Brother, if you are, you need to quit letting those #### brokers unload garbage on you. Like I said, I wil never go below 50cpm per car. I'll run empty before I haul cheap. This past weekend I ran from Thurs morning to Sat afternoon, total of 1438 miles, and made $2450. I cheated as I had a load of metal frames going one way, but that paid $3 a mile, it's what I charged him not what he offered. Nothing wrong with always asking for more CPM or telling the broker to pack sand.

Is that .85 per mile per car, or for the total load?
