Just to expand a little more, 90% of what I haul is oversize and probably half of those are super-loads so I wind up with a lot of time sitting because of permits, state police escorts, holidays and of course darkness. I can't begin to tell you how much I hate going into a truckstop let alone hanging out in one and since I don't care for television (except public TV), don't drink and don't polish the shiny stuff on my company owned truck I choose other hobbies that keep my mind occupied. There's a reason the shop guys call my sleeper on my truck "the mad scientists lab" as you can see by the picture. My Volvo workstation is where I build my quad copters and program the computers on them. Generally I carry enough equipment to build at least two complete ones and always have one I'm tweaking and tuning. Keeps me out of the bar and out of the drivers lounge watching mindless garbage on the television. And no, I'm not a liberal democrat, I just have different ideas for what I call entertainment.

Anyway, I can't haul my giant scale radio control planes around in the truck with me, most of them wouldn't even begin to fit in the sleeper so I keep myself entertained with the smaller quad copters which takes care of two of my passions, radio control flying and photography then adds a third challenge, computer programming. Of course when I go into high security facilities or cross the border I get lots of looks and questions when they see all the stuff in the sleeper but so far no one has said I can't have it.

    My mad scientist lab,

And finally, my other passion, Giant Scale RC Airplanes. Mine are the two closest in the picture. The orange one is a Pulse 120XT with a 26cc 2 Stroke gas engine and about a 6' wingspan, the yellow one in a 1/5 scale Waco biplane with a 33cc 2 stroke gas engine and also a 6' wingspan.

And finally, my 100% built from scratch 27% scale Cessna 421B Golden Eagle. This one has a 14' wingspan and a pair of 55cc gas engines. I built the entire plane from scratch including exact scale retractable landing gear that I machined myself.

Open top coal hoppers aren't to bad to haul. The worst railcar I've ever hauled was a covered hopper laid on its side. They're fairly heavy and pretty wide and just awkward to haul.

What's that car weigh? Seems like it would be awfully heavy on the trailer axles.

I thought with the axles on when I see them I think the empty weight was around sixty thousand but don't quote me on that

42K lbs of 40' material will put you over on the spread most of the time. I don't even want to know what 45K lbs of 60' rail car would be.

When I haul railcars I put them on tridem extendable steps. Even then we are pushing close to 40k on the trailer.
