I drive a 2013 389. The def tank is on passenger side. yours musta been changed over to other side next model year. Company ordered truck early 2012. Looks like we dont know or dont give a dam when we come from the other end to fuel/fill def. lmao.

I've heard the same thing about Pete's and the DEF tank so calling someone a liar for something that is common knowledge is just silly.

I do believe I could have written this post as I feel the exact same way. I drive an '06 Pete 379 tri-axle dump truck, and that small cab with the dump body controls is flat out claustrophobic, the truck is noisy, and I simply CANNOT stand Peterbilt's "out of the floor" clutch pedal.

Pete's are just a name and over priced. As a ower op you couldn't give me long hood. Fuel mileage is the game and wit a hood it's hard to see over 6 miles a gallon. Only thing good a about a Pete is that the chrome shop is always waiting to rape you. Give me a freightliner or Volvo any day. So much more comfort.

I bought my very well equipped pete 379 new in 2003. C-15 CAT ( 6 NZ ) . 18 speed. American Class interior. 70" sleeper. The price: $ 105, 000. 1.1 million miles still drives like new . Dependable. Paint still shiny ( except it came off roof). I am 6'2" and like the head room and leg room. Rides well ( if you take the time to adjust airbag level and change shocks occasionally). Engine blew head gasket . Fixed under warranty. Trans never worked on . Replaced 1 differential. Now I will tell you my trucker story. I have gotten as much as 221000 miles out of my steer tires. I use centramatics. I have never, ever had this truck aligned.. Recently in was running a dry van between NC and CA. 40, 000 loads. Was getting about 6.6:mpg when I checked after fii up. Out pulls many trucks.. Some new trucks seem pitiful on hills. What's better than a def tank on the drivers side? No def tank . Hahaha. Never been on a wrecker. I have had people offer to buy it. Yes the cab is narrow and it's a little awkward to back, but more maneuverable than it looks. Maybe I like a challenge. What I like about a pete: the looks and they don't have a bunch of stupid little things going . Hardly ever go to the shop and can get in and out of pete dealer on same day usually. But hey, if you can stand to drive a Freightliner, go ahead.

What! Have you never seen the movie "Black Dog" with Patrick Swayze? That was the first time I really started looking at Pete's (I was 8 when the movie came out lol)

In my honest opinion when I think of a truck, a long nose Pete is the first thing that comes to mind, not a Volvo, not a freight shaker, a LONG NOSE PETE 379EXHD. I have an OBSESSION with trucks, especially these. Nothing comes close to making me feel warm and fuzzy inside except for a 379exhd.

Now that I drive one, I have to say... IT IS EVERYTHING I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE!!!!!!! It rides smooth, handles great, and I LOVE the can and sleeper setup. I've been in internationals, freight liners, kenworths, and now Pete's. I gotta say, the Pete has the best sleeper for my needs. I have a 63" stand up sleeper and its awesome! I wish it was a flat top though. I like those more.

My 2007 spring front suspension 379exhd rides better than my 2013 air ride front axle prostar I drove. I love my Pete.

But yeah, that's my opinion on Pete's.

    Here's my beautiful girl haha

And I forgot to mention, my prostar and the 2013 cascadias we had at my last company had wind coming in through the doors and windows, they would never seat properly, everything was always rattling around. In my Pete that's just over 6 years old I have not one issue with wind or rattling in the cab or sleeper. I can roll my windows up and it's quiet as can be

    I drove a long nose Pete once.:biggrin_255: V-8 CAT and 15 over. Nothing like passing a 80k on a grade w/ 105k GVW.
