I'm a new driver so I GOAL just about all the time. I avoid anything blindside like the plague. I've been out solo for about a month now and backing is getting more routine and I'm more comfortable with it.

If I'm at a truckstop and GOALing I do feel a bit foolish but no one gives me any problems. I watch a lot of other drivers if I'm waiting at a dock or for the while I sit in the front seat parked and see some of them GOAL too. Haven't hit anything backing yet and don't intend to. pull ups are free.

He was testing you and you passed. Not the brightest safety man. He won't be able to tell the ones that fail. :)

That would be double posting! :)

whatever happened to personal accountability people?why do we not go to the root cause of the problem which is the idiot that was sleep where he should have NEVER been???? It seems that these days it is the thing to do to blame everyone under the sun for whatever happens to us when we do something stupid to get our selves either hurt or killed. I don't get it.

I know my job and do it well. .... so there ain't no "leavin it"for me sir. Spin however you want.....we are ALL accountable for actions that cause us to get hurt or killed. Cdl holder or not. No different for myself, If I were to find myself hurt due to my own negligence I would blame no one but myself. I guess I'm just a rare breed. I suspect bossoutlaw is one of those "its everyone elses fault but mine"kind of people. And if one truly knows how to use their mirrors.......GOAL should be a rare occurance. Example being blindsiding (which shouldn't be very often anyway) or extremely poor lighting. But being that you are 24years old with one year under your belt..... your best bet is to continue with your GOAL

I completely disagree with this statement no matter how many years you have behind your belt. This story is just one example of why.

I lost my grandpa (never met him) to this type of accident. He was crushed between a dock and trailer and killed. This was back in 1970.
