In a nutshell, company is losing money they lost 12- 16.4 mil this quarter. Company wants employees to take a 7% paycut and other things like a lose a week vacation etc. Employees don't want to agree to this so they look like they are gonna vote "no"on the contract. Which will leaves ABF to very little options in my eyes. Sell, or close its doors, doubt they are gonna keep the wages the same and stay afloat.
ABF......

I honestly don't know how YRC stayed afloat? Somehow they did it. Was it all the cuts in pay? Who knows? I'm waiting to see what happens when YRC's contract is up. That will be interesting. I can almost bet they will be losing money again by then and more cuts or no 15% back.

I think something will be worked out. ABF has a pretty good share of the market on their "Upack". This has given them revenue that other LTL companies dont have. Can you imagine what will happen if a strike occurs or they shut their doors? How many people will be missing their household goods?

The new contract will pay 22.64 an hour, and .56875 cents a mile for road drivers. Still maintain their great health care plan. A big loss will be vacation time. It will take 8 years before you get a 2nd week of vacation. Also, they want to sub out 6% of their freight to outside carriers. No pension increases for 5 years, just maintaining the pension level.

YRC won't buy ABF . That would result in job losses and even deeper pay cuts .

Seriously, .56875 is top pay for line haul drivers? My top pay is almost that high at Reddaway. I thought they were up to 63 cpm at least.
Speaking of UPS, I wonder when they're gonna give their employees a pay and pension cut?
