The new NYHUT stickers...

Fun news for everyone that put the sticker on. Volvo 780. I put it on the front like instructed when I got it back in November. I just sold that truck that had the new purple sticker on it and when I heated it and pulled it off, the plastic front side with all the printing on it came off really easy and left the white painted backing stuck on the truck. Nice ghetto look that is a mutha to get off.

Have fun with that in December guys!

 

Coming out of Ft. Drum with a load......I got a talking to just outside of Watertown because of where I put the sticker (beside IFTA, LH side permit panel). I told him nicely that a I HAD a stainless panel just for such decals and SORRY but it is not going on the front. It's paid.....and this IS about $$ right?? Apparently there is no real penalty for "incorrect location"....if there were; these NY bears would cite me for it I have no doubt. The state is HUNGRY for revenue. He started to measure my OAL without ever asking if I had a permit.........had the the gall to ask me to hold the tape. I said no...........but I will get you my permit. The great state of NY if becoming MORE and MORE unfriendly to trucks, in my opinion.

 

I was searching for this answer and found the DOT info effective Jan 2013 so I am sharing in case it will help someone. The DOT did stop allowing HUT Sticker on bumper but then I think they realized people were flipping out or not having anywhere to put sticker. From my google search it does seem that the no bumper rule did cause a panic. So the edited rule is put the sticker on the body of the truck (which can include bumper) "securely and conspicuously affixed on the body" and get it "as near as possible to the front registration (license) plate." All of this sounds like bumper to me and I guess NY realized that as well. Go figure! My secondary job will always be to prevent good drivers from getting bullied!

I'm glad I don't have to have one. I noticed all the new purple and white stickers this weekend on my first outting to yankee land.

 

they just processed mine yesterday, girl on the phone said they can now go on the front bumper. ..

 

If you're still running the 3500 you shouldn't need it.

 

any tractor over 4000# needs it...

If you read carefully it states power unit over 18,000 or if you choose the unloaded method of 8, 4 thousand.
And if you're still running the 3500 it shouldn't weigh 18000. You're confusing the trailer added in the total and that's not mentioned or included.
Now you can say you called them but any buearcrat is going to tell you anythinng right or wrong.
Me I always choose the easiest way.

 

unloaded I'm over 4k, but either way I'd rather pay the little bit then keep getting stopped so they can weigh me..
