there are no cameras in our trucks ..... nice photo shopped picture amazing how the tractor has no damage. and if this is a true accident he would not of even lost his job.... would have 2 strikes left. takes 3 accidents in 12 months to lose your job the exception being a high speed rear end collision . thats termination.

Yeah that was posted early in my thread. I believe this is a true accident. It happened out in Oregon. I read the article that was attached to it. I didn't think there were cameras in the trucks. I don't think they really want to watch over us as some other companies do their drivers.

My cousin drives for Wal-Mart. He really likes it. I wonder if they will make you do the wal-mart cheer before you leave the dock each day...lol.... I worked for Wal-Mart years ago....before the morning meeting they made you do the Wal-Mart cheer...those were some humiliating days...lol

Walmart is one of my customers, as a vendor when we go to supplier meetings they make vendors do the cheer... You get used to it.. Overall respect for others is paramount at WalmartWalmart

Orientation day One! WWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!! Information over load! Well not really. It is a lot of information to take in. Six gentlemen in my class. We are all having a good time. Today was mostly paper work, forms to fill out, acknowledgment forms, etc. Some back ground about the company. We all got measured up for our shirts and pants. I will be very glad when I get my shirts! Got one lunch meal ticket for today but didn't have to use it because there was something going on at my DC so lunch was provided for everyone. I believe tomorrow is the same ordeal. Thursday they will be having a BBQ so won't have to worry about lunch that day either. We had plenty of breaks in between, free to get water or coffee and such. Second part of the day was geared towards safety. This also was usual DOT required information and some extra info that the company has to share with us.

Over all, the attitude and atmosphere here incredibly different from what most carriers try to portray. Everyone, and I mean everyone is friendly, willing to listen and will greet you with a smile and a hello even if they never meet you before. This company has strive to maintain a certain line of professionalism since Sam Walton started it way back in the 60's. It shows. I know I am gonna like it here. I could not have made a better choice and neither could this company!

With Wal~mart, apply online. Apply to any DC you that has a opening. Sealy is not hiring at the moment, but they may open it again in the near future. If you apply at another location and get hired at that location, after a year, you can transfer to a closer location such as Sealy. Yes I will be running out of Sealy DC. Yeah Bryan, and Mike D., and MJ where my dispatchers throughout my time there. Mike and Bryan in my opinion are the best.

Day 2! More Safety. Haz-mat information. We received some more tools for positions in the company. Operations, procedures, things along those lines. Some paper work to fill out. Company policies on various things. We were given a tour of the shop, wash bay, and fuel island. We also took a look at some 2013 Peterbilt 386 tractors that are not in service yet. Nice trucks!

Overall so far, this is by far a very much different orientation experience that I have had. We are all going to be happy here.

Day 3. Well things are starting to sink in. I keep pinching myself waiting for me to wake up, but this is all real. Today we finished up the HR stuff. Went through the benefits, days off, vacation, holiday, etc. AP came in and talk with us about their role in the company. I also meet my mentor this morning who I will be riding with me next week.

Forgot to mention that on Monday and Tuesday (by our luck) the cafeteria was serving breaded chicken sandwiches for safety quarter for the warehouse. Today I used the meal ticket I was given for Monday for my lunch. Tomorrow the drivers side is having a BBQ for their safety quarter. Wal~mart really likes to feed their drivers and associates. lol! When we finish up on Friday, I will be headed home for the weekend and then come back next week to start with my mentor.

I would like to express to anyone who has a interest in driving for this company to do so! It is very much a family, friendly environment. Some other companies claim to have this atmosphere but don't show it. Wal~mart walks the walk, and talks the talk. There are plenty of drivers that can and will tell you how good this company can be. I know there are some who don't care for the company or the stores and that is ok. I am happy with my decision and I would hope that if you are interested as I was, that will per sue it to the fullest extent. Thank you for following this thread and I will do what I can to keep you all informed of my process.
