I just started, the money sucks. I havent figured out how to work the paperwork system to maximize pay.
Flatbedding paid a lot better, tanker is easier.

Ain't no way! You can almost figure that hauling milk will pay around 30cpm, sitting around dairies trying to get unloaded is for free. So, the "guys" that tell you that they are "taking home 1250 per week for 4 days of work" evidently are running around 5000 miles in 4 days if they are taking home 1250 for these 4 days. BS!! Been there and done it!

Whatever floats your boat man, it all comes down the planning and rate your getting paid by who controls the milk. Each place pays differently, so planning isn't just about running milk to the closest place or even where the need is. You gotta figure out where to get the most bang for your buck while still taking care of the farm.

I did organic milk transport for two years out of Michigan. The owners I worked for were two of the biggest a-holes you could ever meet. They paid .28 cents per mile but they offered a lot of miles and I was out no longer than a day and a half, sometimes home the same day. However, all days were right up to the legal limit or over.

If you run milk, be prepared to wait at least two hours, or more, to get unloaded. I did get paid after two hours but that isn't the point. When you have 650 miles to do in a day, you don't want to be at a plant for 5 hours total getting unloaded. This type of works sucks and I would probably never do it again unless I was starving.

The place I worked for looked at the places that took the longest and put drop trailers there. We pay a local guy like 50 bucks a load to take the milk when they'll take it, with the exception of the first load of the day. They allow parking on sight so during the break the milk gets unloaded.
