Yep and those 3 are saying Cummins because they want your money. 3200 for a turbo 6400 for a head gasket 32000 for an overhaul. What do you think they're going to say? I hate the ACERT, and hate the ISX. I will give no love to either motor. If getting a newer truck with those motors is considered an upgrade I'd rather downgrade. But I'll never get caught dead in a Cummins powered truck again after I drove a shaker with an ISX in it. Couldn't get that #### truck in the big hole loaded don't know the power rating but an old 400 a model with a 9spd would pull better than that hunk of junk ISX.

32000 for a O/H? A new crate motor be cheaper then doing a over haul then.

I've had every motor except the Maxforce and seems every mechanic hates that one. All gave me problems. But I'm sitting on a Cummins isx again. Whatta ya gonna do?

One customer at our truck shop has two isx Cummins. One 2007,the other is a 2008! Both of them are junk! The 2008 has been nothing but problems from day one. The 2007 that the driver is allways bragging on saying that Cats are junk, and he hates them. That truck only has 350000 miles on it! This William Bigrigger was just driving down the road a few weeks ago,and boom......piece of crap blew all to heck!! I know I shouldn't have, but I laughed soo hard I got choked!!!!! FWI Performance Truck in Bryan Texas is going to install a recon for 32,000 US Dollars!! That's about $31500 more than I would give you for a T800 Kenmex!!

That 32k is probably for a recon with no usable core and installation.

Makes me think I still made the right decision going with this 02 t800 with the detroit. I specced out some rebuild parts, $2600 overhaul, $320 for bearings, $1550 for the head, $1540 for injectors, $320 for water pump, $850 for Borg Warner 171702 turbo, etc..

I could do a full top to bottom rebuild on the thing myself and probably wouldn't hit 8k.

Well here's one link I'll find the other. Overhauling an ISX is more expensive than dropping a factory reman motor in.
    http://solutions.letstruck.com/Answers/View/3700/Why+you+dont+like+the+ISX+Engine.

As I said I'll find the other question stating a factory reman motor was cheaper than an overhaul. For those of you who say I'm full of #### fine say what you want your entitled to your opinions. Never owned a cumapart in a class 8 never will. And I ain't impressed with the one in my pickup either at $900 for a reman injection pump.

Yes I have driven a mechanical cat. 90 cab over international had a 350 b model in it I believe might have been a 375 not sure but it wasn't the 425. Also driven an 85 359 with a 425 b model. The international had 4.11 rear gears and a 9spd half the problem it wouldn't pull for the first 20 miles was because 5 was on the high side not the low side and I didn't realize that after that it pulled alright.

As for the 85 had 3.93s and a 13 over. I don't know weather the pump had been fiddled with or not but that SOB would flat out run. Also driven an 80 W9 400 a model...didn't pull very well but then again there was more oil on the motor than in the pan as far as I was concerned and nobody knew how many miles that motor had on it.

All that being said. I can overhaul the MXS in our 06 for 24,500 4 year unlimited milage warranty included. That cost includes replacing both turbos, all 6 injectors, head plus the other crap.

I can in frame my 1mm for around 20k same scenario 4 year unlimited milage warranty replace turbo, 6 injectors and head...for 23k they can also go through and reseal the front cover and do the rear main and everything is warranted. Show me that from an ISX. I have driven both cat and Cummins hands I'll run my cat over a Cummins any day. And won't be eaten alive by a head gasket or a turbo let alone have to buy a factory reman motor because its cheaper than an overhaul.
