After RDTC you go out with a trainer and it is rare to switch trainers. You also get a flat rate per day during training. Used to be $95 per day. Monitor your expenses and you will be fine. That is Phase 2. Just you and the trainer, not 2 other trainee's crowded in the truck running teams for nothing.

Phase 3 is after testing out at a terminal. Driving test, knowledge test (open book),still hard. pass and assigned a truck. Phase 3 is with a training DM, who has a smaller board.

Roehl has PROBALY the best training program out there.

Yes they seem like a really good company. A lot of forums have more good things than bad to say about them.

I actually spoke with a roehl driver earlier today that hauled into my work. Said he actually went through a cdl school then to roehl. Had nothing but good things to say about them as a company. Said they give him plenty of miles running national on 7 off 7.

driver manger that actually has more time to spend with you to help you learn the Roehl way of dispatching. Has a smaller group of drivers to manage.

Phase 3 is 1-3 months long.

Each person has their own room. The room has a microwave & refrigerator. They're decent considering the cost averages out to less than $20.00 a night. You do have to bring your own towel and they only change the bedding once a week. There are washing machines and dryers (2 each) located on the second floor. The hotel is conveniently located next to a 24 hour grocery store and a Target is located across the street and Walmart's is about a 10 minutes walk away.

I have not got a trainer yet, hopefully today. Roehl is paying for the room, I just have the cost of food, but that's not a problem.

E-logs is the norm, but I have been told that when you go out with a trainer, you do both E-logs and paper logs. That way you have practice for doing both and also when you get your own truck you have to have the last 7 days of log sheets, so doing the paper logs you are covered when you get your own truck. Paper logs are easy, I'm sure E-logs will be easy once a person gets used to them. Just have to be careful with E-logs, Roehl does not you to edit them once you make entries, if edit's are required you have to go through your Fleet Manager to have the changes made.

It is pretty scary and says a lot about the industry if ten days out with a trainer is considered among the best. It used to be 20 plus days with a trainer then 20 plus days with another new driver. It wasn't a team operation but sometimes was a little more than one driver could do on his own. Then it went to 20 plus days with a trainer or trainers. They found out that students did better with more than one trainer when they started the 7/7 trainer program. It worked great if the student stayed out 21 days and hammered it out. But some where along the way it was decided that they should get a break in the middle of the 20 + days. Now students were getting 4-5 trainers and having to get dropped off and picked back up at home and it got to be a big mess. So they scrapped that and went back to just one trainer.

I'm sure that its been a long and boring wait waiting all week. Hope things workout today.
How long was the wait once you applied and got accepted to roehl before getting a date set for training?
