I don't understand either. The recruiters in Portland won't even call me back. I ordered a DAC report to see if anything is on there that would have caused my application to be denied. thanks for all the concerns.

You don't want to drive out of Portland anyway.

I am sorry to bother you but you seem to be the most recent grad of the Schneider Orientation. I had some questions and I wanted to get the most up to date information. I am planning on going to Alliance School of Trucking in Chatsworth since I am unemployed as of Jan 2013 and the VA will pay for part of it. I was looking at Schneider's OTR truck driver position out of LA with a $2500 signing bonus (https://schneider.taleo.net/careersection/2_cd_ca/jobdetail.ftl). Do you know anyone who received that?

Also I wanted to make sure I could afford my bills but I can't seem to get a answer on the amount brought home weekly. I was just curious if you could give me a ballpark of what is made during orientation as well as how much is made monthly. I would appreciate any information or tips you have as well. Again sorry to bother you but I want to get a career and this is what I am thinking about pursuing. Thanks in advance for your help.

Schneider is a very safety oriented company. They will make you get a new physical even if yours is still valid- for several reasons. If you have been off of work for awhile, they want to be sure that you are still in good health so you and others don't get hurt. They want to be sure the physical you carry while you work for them is valid (some people are unscrupulous and carry fake documents). And they will cover all of the costs. They do insist on the hair follicle test because it is a more accurate picture of your habits than a urinalysis. I have gone through this twice with Schneider- but even though it is a lot of red tape, I don't mind. They have made it worth my while and have proven to be an excellent company to work for. Good luck, all!

You will most definitely receive the bonus (if you have not previously worked for them and already been paid a bonus). It will come to you in payments, not a lump sum. But they will do what they say they are going to do (unlike some other companies out there).

Thank you Lady_Truck. I am trying to decide between Schneider, Con Way, and Swift. I plan on using my GI-Bill to get my CDL as they also pay me BAH while in school. The only question I have is if they will accept the school I am planning on attending. I don't want to get lied to by recruiters to have me attend their school. I still have to feed my family during training. Any advice would help.

The least I made with Schneider was $560/week during training. Takehome was about $400. The most I made in a week was $800 take home was $690. I usually averaged a take home of about $550. If I'm not mistaken your "bonus" will start after you've been with them for 3 months. I could be wrong. It will come in weekly installments. Separate check or deposit. No taxes. Good luck to you.

Do you know anything about Alliance School of Trucking? I have not seen any bad stuff but I want to make sure companies will take the training they offer.

No. Sorry, I don't. I got re-licensed through a run down, crap equipment trucking school and Schneider took me. Also started the tuition reimbursement until I quit

You quit Schneider? If so can you PM with info about why and how often you were out/back home. I know I have to pay my dues as an OTR but I want a dedicated route where I can be home daily. Even on salary as long as its 40k or more a year.
